Keith Laws midseason top 50 prospect update

David ((Normal, IL))

Did Jose Peraza drop that much to fall out of your top 50 and be replaced by Albies as Atlanta's #1 prospect?
Klaw (1:15 PM)

Peraza doesn't walk or hit for any power, and the hit tool isn't as advanced as it looked.

Doesn't make sense to me either.

Klaw always worships at the alter of ceiling. Those guys are not seen as potential TOR. Wisler will always be ranked lower than Touki b/c of that for Klaw.

He's looking for stars, not controllable, cheap MLB players at 2 WAR.

We're referring to the fact that BA doesn't include him in ATL's top 10

Has to be an oversight or potential ineligibility. No reason for anyone to rank Sims ahead of Wisler.

They have this on "graduating" players. They seem to have made an exception for Banuelos. He's got the least service time of the group.

Graduating

The Braves’ numerous trades opened several spots for rookies. Jace Peterson has run with the chance to be the everyday second baseman, while Matt Wisler and Manny Banuelos pitched well when given the opportunity in the rotation. Righties Williams Perez and Arodys Vizcaino have also taken a turn on the Braves staff, while righthander Shae Simmons is on the disabled list as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

Everyone is mad hype about Albies (rightfully so, IMO), but do remember that he is a young 18. It'll be a while before we have to find room for him.

Not necessarily. I think there's a decent chance he's ready at some point in 2017.

He's extremely advanced for his age, and some have said his hit tool could already be a 60. Combine that with his current speed and defense, and I could definitely see him in the majors at 20. He'll have a very good chance to spend quite a bit of time in AA next year.
