Would you trade Wood for Wieters and a 48 hour window to work out an extension?

Not sure I would, but find it worth asking since the Os are shopping him and Alex would probably get him.

The two of them as principles in a deal if you expanded it even.
 
I wouldn't. I think if we trade Teheran or Wood, we go for a "package" to a team where we get one top pitching prospect back with a Catcher, LF, or 3B. The Rays have done a good job of that, always getting a younger pitcher back along with the bat.
 
Nooooo. Regardless of his 3.78 ERA (which isn't bad at all), I think he will command quite a solid return. I wouldn't do it for Weiters alone by any means.
 
I’m not entirely convinced the price would be that high, but I have to say no. Wieters’ value is low right now, and while I don’t think he’ll be what you’d call a bargain, I’d take my chances in free agency if he’s really the best available.

Agreed. Wood is a huge overpay, in my opinion.

Weiters is highly overated on this board...is it the Georgia Tech connection? He's 29 with a career line of .256/.318/.422 and small sample this year of .234/.263/.396 with a 4% walk rate and 26$ strike out rate. He seems to be regressing in stead of progressing and getting him at 30-33 ish age seasons seems like a recipe for disaster. This totally ignores the fact that you would be moving a potential top of the rotation type starter (maybe a 2; def better than a 3) for him. (at age 24)

Edit: I would drive to John Hart's house and throw poop at his front door.

Hell no. I don't get the fascination with Weiters. I'd rather roll with a combination of a good-glove veteran and Beth/plan B and look to upgrade the offense elsewhere. An expensive FA catcher in his 30s makes no sense for this team.
 
I'd trade baby Harang but not Wood, Folty, ManBan, Wisler, Sims, Touki, or Jenkins for him.

And it's a Boras guy so you're never going to get an extension.
