Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

Thank you. Papelbon is off the charts when it comes to maturity. No one compares.

Not to change topics. But I think the entire 2015 Braves team (including Donnie Veal) personifies grit, clutchness, maturity and veteran leadership. They have all the things last year's team didn't. They prove there is a right way to lose and a wrong way to lose. They just play the game the right way, which is why I personally enjoy watching them so much.

@MibeltRodriguez: Once the deal is complete, the #Nats will acquire Jonathan Papelbon from the #Phillies in exchange for RHP Lucas Giolito. #MLB

IF it's true... Dumb.

Lol... giles will jump off a bridge of that's true. That's hysterical, I hope it's true

If there is one person you can count on for accurate insider information, it's Mibelt Rodriguez.

Very nice trade for Philly, assuming they don't eat much/any money.

Pivetta was ranked the #10 prospect in the WAS organization by Baseball America // 12th by MLB.com

Rosenthal says the Nats will guarantee Papelbon's salary for 2016 somewhere in the neighborhood of $11MM.

My fantasy team took a big blow with this news.

At least it aint Kimbrel, wonder if Storen will walk when his deal is up.

He's been lights out this year and now this happens.

Papeldouche to Nats, lol. I am surprised the Phils gave him up for basically a salary dumb though. I would think they would go for a prospect woth upside like robles or Frede.

Why is a dumpster fire like Arizona going after Aroldis Chapman when he's a free agent after next year? They would give up good pieces for 1.3 years of a luxury bad teams don't really need...

Hey, Braden Shipley and Domingo Leyba are only in AA and A+ ball right now. Can't possibly wait all those years for those bums to develop, right?

Might be a back scratching ploy. Maybe Cincy called up Dave Stewart and said, hey, we need some public competition for Chapman to help us get his true value in the marketplace. Help us our and we'll do the same for you next time you have a trade piece.

Only thing I can think of that makes even the remotest sense. But I doubt it really is the case....

They're going to put the pieces in place to WIN NOW, baby. Aroldis, Cole Hamels, and Phil Gosselin. Get your playoff tickets now, kids.

I could see Arizona doing something wacky like trying to turn Aroldis into a starter in 1.5 weeks or something else similarly absurd.
