Farewell to Wood, Peraza, Jimmy Johns, and Avilans.

If he was signed as a FA, I could see that argument. But, we gave up great pieces for potentially 3-4 years (if anything).

I see your point (and everyone's dissenting opinion... I agree!).

But Oliviera is undoubtedly a great asset himself now. This isn't a Nick Markakis situation despite their similarities in age.

Yeah, I think 3rd is the best option. He's got the arm to do it, and will be easier on his legs than LF.

With a partially torn UCL, I'd be more concerned with what the throws from third will do to his arm than what playing LF could do to his legs.

If he ends of being a solid regular (2-3 WAR player), there will be considerable surplus value in that contract.

Alex Wood is already a 2-3 WAR player, who is getting better, and isn't at his physical peak. Plus, he's a pitcher, which is inherently more valuable than a hitter.

I would imagine so although it is such a huge question mark with lack of playing time and injuries.

I'm not sure how Wood is getting better since this has been his worst season. Career lows in ERA, FIP, xFIP, SIERA, and K%.

If this trade is completed, the #Braves will essentially use Peraza and Wood to serve as the $62M they didn't have when Olivera was a FA

Los Angeles Dodgers fans are eager to see what they have in Cuban free agent infielder Hector Olivera, who was signed to a six-year, $62.5 million contract this offseason despite zero MLB experience,an elbow that could have required Tommy John surgery, and sitting out all of 2013 in Cuba with blood clots.

:icwudt: I see you John Hart. I see you slick.
