But Oliviera is undoubtedly a great asset himself now. This isn't a Nick Markakis situation despite their similarities in age.

Yeah, I think 3rd is the best option. He's got the arm to do it, and will be easier on his legs than LF.

With a partially torn UCL, I'd be more concerned with what the throws from third will do to his arm than what playing LF could do to his legs.

I certainly don't trade Peraza and Wood for someone not as good as Justin Turner or Howie Kendrick.

If he ends of being a solid regular (2-3 WAR player), there will be considerable surplus value in that contract.

Alex Wood is already a 2-3 WAR player, who is getting better, and isn't at his physical peak. Plus, he's a pitcher, which is inherently more valuable than a hitter.

I would imagine so although it is such a huge question mark with lack of playing time and injuries.

I'm not sure how Wood is getting better since this has been his worst season. Career lows in ERA, FIP, xFIP, SIERA, and K%.

The guy is simply a huge mystery.
