7/31/15: GDT - Atlanta Braves @ Philadelphia Phillies

I really think the Braves will have the fewest runs in MLB by seasons end. With the Mets upgrading they should improve. Only real competition will be the Marlins. What a joke the NL East is though. Every team but the Nats ranks in the last 4 in runs scored.

It's feels weird to be rooting for a high draft pick while still in July. But it does make me that much more excited about their future.

This makes you happy doesnt it?

Not really. It's embarrassing actually. I just assumed that with the way the roster was constructed in the offseason that the Braves were going to have a very hard time scoring runs. And after a good start I was told repeatedly how wrong I was and that just making contact was all the team needed. Well the Braves strike out less than anybody else and have a huge issue scoring runs.

gf consistently brought up the point of cluster luck earlier in the year and many refused to acknowledge it... I had never thought much about it, but makes total sense.

7 hits in one inning is way better than 7 hits spread out over 9 innings.

We were getting tons of cluster luck earlier in the year and that simply was not going to continue. You have to be able to drive the ball and we simply can't.

It wasn't just cluster luck. We were hitting a lot of home runs earlier in the year too. Once the power dried up the offense did too.

Ok good post and none of the pro contact posters never denied we needed more power hitters.

Not saying Phi is great but they've been playing good ball lately, swept Chi in Chi last weekend.

We were hitting MORE home runs. I wouldn't say we were hitting "a lot."

Well, "a lot" for us. At one point we were 5th in the league in April in home runs. We finished the month in 7th place. Between that and our good situational hitting we were scoring runs in bunches.

Did you honestly think we could sustain that the entire season with the personnel we were putting out there?
