Your Favorite Braves' Teams

Yeah. I expect a few more votes for this year's team after last night's game.

My other favorite Braves team is the 1974. Of course, that was the year Hank broke the record. But Buzz Capra, who is my all-time favorite Brave (along with Buddy Hernandez who never pitched in majors), had a phenomenal season in 1974. That team won 88 games, which was quite good considering what came before and after. Even with the good team and Hank breaking the record, attendance was under a million.

Now you've REALLY dated yourself - I was 5!!!

1992
This was my first full season as a fan. I had never heard of the Braves until they made the World Series against the Twins and people (SC) were going crazy about it. You really can't beat your first season as a fan. I was a huge TP fan and he was clutch all year. Of course there was the NLCS that had one, if not greatest endings ever.

1993
Fred McGriff and FIRE. What a historical comeback. Damn was this a talented team. Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Avery, McGriff, Justice and his 40 HRs, Gant was great. It's a shame they didn't win it all.

1995
WS win. The Braves beat one of the best teams I've ever seen. Offense wise at least.

1999
The amazing Mets rivalry was born and they could never beat us.

2003
Sheff and the steroid gang put up some amazing fireworks.

2010
Yes this was a fun team.

2013
It was refreshing to have a really good team again, too bad we still stink in the playoffs. Also I hate Fredi.

Just watch this and pretend we won it in 96.

Man, Andruw...dude was so good but could have been just obscene. As a 19 year old, he made his way all the way from A+ to AAA and hit .339/.421/.652 overall on the year with 34 HR, 92 RBI, 30 SB, and less than 100 Ks in 116 games. Then came up and hit 2 bombs in a WS game.

He should be in the HOF, though. Average career WAR for HOFers is 69, and Andruw put up between 63-67, depending on which measure you use, with over 60 of it coming in an 11-year span. He didn't have a WAR below 3 for 11 years and was at 5 or more for 8 of those years. Put up almost 23 WAR from 21-23 years old. Just crazy what was but even more what could have been.

Pretty weird seeing Lofton and Finley in Houston, Lofton especially.

Also funny seeing Lemke hitting 2nd with his .305 OBP and .617 OPS.

That was a great day. I was fortunate to be there: half of my friends had tickets for Sunday, I was with the other half who had Sat'day seats.

1995 trumps all for me. WS win. Speaks for itself.

1998 was our best team imo. The talent we had was amazing to watch.

1999. The rivalry with the Mets and Chipper putting the team on his back while the offense had serious injuries.

If we had won in 96 that would be my favorite team. Andruw would have been the WS MVP if we won that series too. He is already considered the greatest prospect of the modern era. My favorite team of all time is the 2005 Braves. The streak meant more to me than any 1 world championship. Especially since the "experts" had almost all given up picking against the Braves to win the division. Theres only 3 things you can count on in life, Death, Taxes, and the Atlanta Braves.

Close second place would be the 1991 Braves. I didnt start the year a Braves fan although I watched them all the time on TBS. Great season overall in baseball. Two teams go worst to first and play in the world series. After the game I felt so bad for Smoltz not winning that game thats when I knew I was a Braves fan.

How about a Braves team of your favorite players.....just players in Atlanta...imagine game 7 of the World Series, who do you have on the mound?

1B - Fredi Freeman

2b - martin Prado

Ss - andrelton simmons

3b - chipper

C - javy Lopez

Of - Andruw jones

Of - Jason heyward

Of - hank Aaron

My pitcher would have to be smoltzy because of his big game ability

Prado

Freeman

Aaron

Chipper

Heyward

Jones

Lopez

Simmons

Smoltzy

You Fredi with the misconstructed lineup? Let's try that again.

Heyward
Andruw
Chipper
Hank
Freeman
Lopez
Prado
Simmons
Smoltz

Although, personally I'd go

Furcal
Andruw
Chipper
Hank
McGriff
Sheffield
Lopez
Simmons
Smoltz

I'll bite

C - Mac
1B - Freeman
2B - Giles (come on, Prado, really?)
3B - Chipper
SS - Tron (though Furcal makes a case as does Renteria)
LF - Aaron
CF - Druw
RF - Jason (I'm just drooling at this outfield defense, not a blade of grass would be left unpatrolled)

Starting pitcher would be maddux, Smoltz was a big game wiz, but Mad Dog would be my go to.

Lineup

Heyward
Chipper
Freeman
Aaron
Mac
Druw
Giles
Simmons

Now I'll get blasted for Chipper not being 3rd I'm sure, but this linuep was mainly constructed to break up lefties and righties could also go

Heyward
Aaron
Chipper
Freeman
Druw
Mac
Giles
Simmons

C: Javy
1B: McGriff
2B: 2003 Giles
SS: Simmons, I guess
3B: Chipper
LF: Aaron
CF: Andruw
RF: Healthy JD Drew
P: Maddux

1. Giles
2. Drew
3. Aaron
4. Chipper
5. McGriff
6. Lopez
7. Andruw
8. Simmons
9. Maddux

1. Giles 2B

2. JHey RF

3. Chipper 3B

4. Cat 1B

5. Sheff RF

6. Druw CF

7. Javy

8. Tron SS

9. Maddux

Julio Franco on the bench. RH heavy, but looking at that group, who cares?
