Hillary in trouble?

How much of their charitable giving was to the Clinton foundation?

They get a tax break for giving to their own organization which in turn pays for their worldwide travel.

The Clintons gave just over $3 million to charity in 2014, about 11 percent of their overall income. Almost all of it was directed into a family foundation which doles out money to other charities and is separate from the better-known Clinton Foundation, a global charity they started.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign hopes that the charitable giving compares favorably with that of the top establishment candidate on the Republican side, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. In 2013, he and wife Columba gave roughly 1.5 percent to charity — $110, 616 out of total income of nearly $7.3 million. They took an extension on filing their taxes this year and did not do so by the April 15 deadline, Bush campaign officials said.

I recall Romney giving nearly 30% of his income to charity.

That greedy bastard!

Maybe it evened out because of the lower effective rate he paid through capital gains?

And just curious how much of that he gave to the Mormon church. Lots of big money recycled there.

Frankly I don't care what he does with his money. I'm certain he can do better with it to help more people than the government can.

But I find it hilarious that Hilary charges 5X the average american anual income per speech... and in that same speech is probably trashing rich people and ceos for making too much

She'll make a great college professor if the election doesn't work out.

he's just going to point to the fact that "rich people pay all the taxes" while ignoring that they take a larger percentage of the money available than they pay in taxes. wealth inequality is not a problem and you should be able to make as much money as possible even if it hurts a large, large majority of the country, because capitalism.

Bernie's policies would hardly make a dent in the wealth gap. I mean he is essentially calling for Obama's proposed tax plan, some of which has already been put into place. If elected Bernie would have to institute a modified policy. Even if he's able to increase long term cap gains to 30%, do you really think an extra 10% tax would actually decrease the wealth gap? No, because there is still going to be exponential growth there. So corporate taxes... Bernie wants to increase those as well and close certain loopholes. If he's able to do this, it would again have little impact on the wage gap, and that is because 50% of any corporate tax increase would go right to the workers.

Under Bernie's policies I see tax increases for all Americans but those in poverty, wage decreases for most Americans, except those who live in one of the few states where min wage isn't 10ish per. I think you would also see signifcant private sector job loss, which I believe Bernie said he want to replace with essentially temporary government jobs. Although he would also cut permanent jobs in the defense department and other areas which he declares wasteful. Smart plan Bern. But hey we'll have slightly better interstates. "Free" higher education is cool.

Just in case you all have forgotten, or been jedi mind tricked, this line of reasoning is vintage "gospel of Limbaugh". I heard him use it about 25 years ago. He was talking about being somewhere and seeing a poor, homeless, destitute person lying on the street, and some supposed "big wig Dems" (I don't know if he just pulled this story out of his arse like usual or if this really happened, but let's assume it's totally 100% accurate), come along, see the homeless man, become "totally grossed out" and carefully step over and/or around him. His moral of the story was, "they're always complaining about how Republicans don't care about the poor, but here you have these high level Dems come along and act like this, doing the very things they criticize Repubs for doing.

So what message SHOULD we take from this story, assuming the whole thing is true? Unfortunately what message do we usually take from it? I"ll be happy to fill in the blanks if anyone needs me to.
