GDT 8/7/13: Braves (Medlen) @ Walgreens (Zimmerman) 7:05 PM

82 wins takes the division. I dont think anyone but the Braves finish above .500. The Nats spirits were crushed this series getting swept with their 3 best starters going. They need to go 27-21 to finish the season just to finish with 82 wins. The only way they are a good team is if Harper is on a hot streak. We have several hitters who can get hot and carry the offense, the Nats have one guy who can do that.

I think that is the most impressive part about this series. We beat some very good pitching.

Bryce Haroer: You have to tip your cap to the Braves. They've been playing good ball all year. They're a pretty good team.

Just saw on twitter.

Honestly don't hate Haroer like some on here do.

I like the way he loves the game and plays hard. If he was a Brave, we'd love him.

But I think this comment (tounge in cheek) came more from being pissed at his teammates for not retailiating either Tues or Wed night.

"That's a clown catch, bro!"

With 47 games to go, what's the absolute worst we could do record wise and still win the division? Would something like 15-32 be good enough? Do the Nationals even win 85 games this year.

Before anyone freaks out, I'm not implying we'll go something like 15-32 the rest of the year. That just gives you an idea of where we stand right now. We're so far ahead that we could play near .300 baseball the rest of the year and still realistically win the division.

90.

Makes the Nats only have to lose 9 games the rest of the way.

Not sure if that was the Nats O or whatever.

But outside of one not great pitch to one of the hottest hitters in baseball, Meds was really good. Hitting corners, used his off speed pitches well. Would be huge if he can pitch well again.

Nats will finish above .500, how high who knows.

They did match up with our 2 and arguably 3rd best starter. Not sure if Meds is better than Wood

You know me...I love me some Wood (Insert "***" meme here). But, Medlen looked great yesterday even though he stopped throwing his curveball.

As of now, Meds is our third best starter but that could change in either direction. Beachy has been showing some encouraging signs.

Would anyone consider a 6 man rotation in September?

Nah, you never want to mess with starting pitcher's normal routines. Bench Teheran for a couple of starts in early September and get him back into his routine later in the month.

Dude you said the same thing when Medlen had his good month in June. You even said back them that Medlen was our ace. Now I hope Medlen gets hot to end the year, would be awesome for us. But as it stands right now. Wood has the lowest FIP and xFIP of any starter on this tyeam, and there has be some value to that.

Yes we know. You don't think Medlen is a legitimate top of the rotation starter. We get it. Move along. Tommy Hanson has almost a 5 FIP... ENJOY!!!.

We're going to go with a four man rotation in the playoffs and as of right now both Wood and Medlen would be in it. Subject to change of course depending upon how they and others pitch the rest of the way.

Beachy would have to absolutely suck down the stretch for this to happen in my opinion. As good as I think Alex is...and I think he can be a TOR type pitcher....I don't think they will start two rookies in the postseason.
