GDT 8/7/13: Braves (Medlen) @ Walgreens (Zimmerman) 7:05 PM

It's amazing, the Braves have won all 6 games played this year in Washington. Just incredible the sheer domination of the division. 15 and a half games and a magic number of 33 on August 7th is just incredible.

Davey Johnson said Jordan Zimmermann's neck was hurting and that's why he was pulled. Zimmermann replied to reporters "news to me". Hahahahaha

Here's another tidbit to put things into perspective about the Braves streak. The Braves have not lost a game since two weeks ago tomorrow. That my friends is astounding.

We were 57 - 45 before this streak. I know that's simple math, but it just blows my mind that this team now leads the majors in wins with 70.

Bryce Haroer: You have to tip your cap to the Braves. They've been playing good ball all year. They're a pretty good team.

Just saw on twitter.

Honestly don't hate Haroer like some on here do.

The Braves now have (4) 13-game win streaks in the Divisional Era. That's one more than the rest of the NL teams have combined.

This. And that was at the time when quite a few fans (myself included) were starting to get frustrated because we had been floundering and playing around .500 baseball for a month and a half. From May 31st to June 5th we took 2 of 3 from the Nationals and swept the Pirates; we were 37-22 and had the second best record in baseball, just one game behind the Cardinals. From June 6th to July 25th (the day we lost) we went 20-23, had a 57-45 record, which was tied for the 4th best record in baseball.

I remember saying at the time, I just hope we get to 60 wins before 50 losses. Now here we are 15 days later and we're at 70 wins before our 46th loss.

I like David Schoenfield's comment about the Braves, especially No. 9:

9. Dan Uggla? Why does everyone hate him?

Because he's Dan Uggla.

Great!!!!

With 47 games to go, what's the absolute worst we could do record wise and still win the division? Would something like 15-32 be good enough? Do the Nationals even win 85 games this year.

Before anyone freaks out, I'm not implying we'll go something like 15-32 the rest of the year. That just gives you an idea of where we stand right now. We're so far ahead that we could play near .300 baseball the rest of the year and still realistically win the division.
