Procedural move. They were wanting to give him a night off before making his debut in Atlanta. Carolina was idle. They "demoted" him to Carolina for the evening allowing them to conduct a flurry of moves with the Gwinnett roster.

I think we get an extra year on Olivera's contract if he has TJ surgery, trying to speed things up so he misses 2016 and is ready to go for 2017.
