9/7/15: GDT Braves. Phillies. Bad baseball at its best, right here.

I know it's early and a lot of people are down, but Olivera looks awful. Dude struck out against Harang on an assortment of pitches that featured ONE true strike.

That was one of the ugliest ABs of the season in a season full of ugly ABs.

Honestly, letting Olivera flail isn't doing anyone any good. I think it's time to end his season. All we can really do is hope his struggles are just really bad rust that will be better next year. Just hope he's not actually this bad.

There's rust, for sure. I've probably been as consistent as anyone beating the drum about that.

That said, competition in the Cuban League is just not that good compared to MLB, and it's pretty frightening that we committed to this guy what we did based on a couple of workouts. I know we're paying good folks to make those calls, but ... yikes.

Strike zone inconsistency is the biggest problem in baseball. The pitchers spend too much time trying to hit the edges to have to perform under conditions of a floating, ever changing strike zone. The batters also deserve the opportunity to finally learn where the zone actually is.

Doesn't Olivera know that he's not supposed to get 2-run doubles until the team is down 9-1 in a game? You gotta lose these games to the Phillies!

Harang in labor tonight. Maybe he'll give birth to a giant cheese steak right there on the mound.
