Davis fiasco should open the gates for Polygamy

The irony of someone who believes theres a magic man in the sky calling me ill-informed is so ironic it physically hurts. Even if God was real she would go to hell for umpteen million reasons already. She shouldnt be in jail she should be in a mental institution with the other people who have voices in their head or cant tell reality from fiction. Your kidding yourself if you dont think she is doing this for the fame and Christian street cred thats going to bring her a lot more money than she was/is/will make as a clerk. She is going to pimp this moment out till the day she dies.

Your post revealed that you were ill-informed on this story. Sorry.

Your anger (hatred?) is palpable. Why?

Rasmussen is a conservative polling outfit, so their results often twitch a bit in that direction, but there's no twitching the 67% "do your job"/26% "support Davisl" result on this issue. I'm kind of surprised at those poll results. I think what most Americans realize is that if government officials become arbitrary (as if they aren't already) in application of the law, no one is immune from what a government official may or may not do and how that could affect someone's life and/or livelihood.

I'm not. There are those who disagree with Davis view on SSM and there are those who are against conscientious objectors pretty much across the board. Thus the numbers.

My fear of a government which allows for no conscientious objection and grants no reasonable accommodation exceeds my fear of one arbitrary official here or there - we've already got that and always will. it's the nature of the human heart.

I'm not sure how that explains why your anger (hatred?) is so palpable.

Because I see through the bull****. Countless atrocities and crimes are committed because of religion. The only thing keeping us from world war 3 right now is that most Christians just "believe" for social reasons. Some are in denial but you cant tell me you truly believe if you dont go to church every week. If I truly thought there was a hell my ass would be in church every day. Religion is promoting the abandonment of reason and common sense and thats extremely dangerous. It promotes hatred of people that worship other gods or no gods. When you mix religion with stupid you get some really horrific results. The only difference between the Taliban and these religious people are where they were born. The only way we will ever achieve anything close to world peace is if we stamp out religion.

I think I've heard this before. I'll give you this - it's a trendy view. Myopic, but trendy - but not as trendy as it was a few years ago. Dawkins and Hitchens' style gets old.

I really think the level of animosity reveals suppressed belief. But that's my Pauline hunch. ;-)

I think this is the first time I've seen conscientious objector used outside fo the military BTW.

Infact

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/conscientious objector
