Bryce Harper Megathread

You mean the Ryan Leaf that tried to beat up a reporter? I'm not sure I remember Harper doing that.

Yeah the same Ryan Leaf that didn't know how to deal with certain things in public...like Harper. Hopefully Harper doesn't do anything that crazy but he's still said stupid things and degraded a reporter himself.

"degrading a reporter?"

Are you talking about the incident where the Canadian reporter insisted on asking a 19 year old what his favorite beer is?

Wait, we are comparing what Harper did to Ryan Leaf?

WUT???

Ryan Leaf got hot and threatened a reporter. Harper calmly talked about putting someone six feet under. Does someone have to get heated before we point out how screwed up of a thing that is to say?

I don't personally think that his "six feet under" comment is anything to get upset over. If it was, then why aren't we complaining about Freeman talking about stepping on the Nats' necks? Then again, his preferred form of assassination would probably be a bear hug or something anyway.

Just take the Chip stories and enter Giles' name instead... Lets say he would invite the baby Braves to these parties and management/coaches weren't that happy about it.

Did you root for the Braves while Bobby Cox was the manager? (accused of beating wife)

just to be claar. Bobby Cox is probably my favorite baseball person of all-time. My step Dad had a mutual friend and I was able to sit in Bobbys seats along with receiving a personalized signed ball from Bobby Cox. (so I'm certainly not a hater)

Are you familiar with hyperbole? As wheresmykayak says, Do you take what Freeman says literally?

I'm not sure how many professional locker rooms you've been in but that's one of the least weird questions I've ever heard. They get asked screwed up stuff all the time from people who manage to get press badges. Harper being the well adjusted person he is didn't know how to handle it with any kind of professionalism so he did what any 13 year old would do and insulted the guy. Bravo.

So just so we are clear, you consider "thats a clown question, bro" as both insulting and degrading?

I'm pretty open about not liking Bobby. As both a person and a coach. It's sadly one of those things sports fans are forced to live with because these people do stupid things and no one holds them accountable.

Are you familiar with what not to say in public? Freeman said an equally dumbass thing. These comments are the types of things that you say in private to your friends. Not in front of the media. It's just stupid. You can't justify Harper's behavior with pointing out someone else's and say he did it to. And you can't do the same with Freeman's. At what point do we ask people to act better?

Just for ****s and giggles, what type of answer do you expect from asking a 19 year old what his favorite beer is?

I love that his age seems to matter when people defend him. He's been getting interviewed since he was what 14-15. Act like a man and say something respectful and point out your age and how it's illegal in America. I mean in Canada you can drink at 18-19. But no we got it's a "clown question bro". But it's ok cause he's 19. We don't ask boys to act like men until they're 26 anyway...

Im just upset bc I like Freeman as a player. But, he's obviously a douche and doesn't know how to handle the media. I mean, he said he wanted to step on their necks!

I figured age would be a logical discussion when you are asking an underage player what his favorite beer is.
