They should have to forfeit if this keeps up.
Can't remember such an intense inning in quite a while.
I certainly had NO faith that he would be worth anywhere near what he was paid and that his production would tail off. Did I expect the complete face plant? No. But, that's not the point. To look at the Panda and say that's where I want to park my 16M/year 95M total contract was just pure insanity.
I think that is the point. Why would you expect a 29 year old to face plant that has a history of success?
I didn't expect a face plant. Said that.
But, if you look at his weight issues, streakiness and his roller coaster play, I can't see any way you can say that you might think the guy would be worth the contract he got.
Every year there are players that I call "fools gold" players. I haven't looked at the full roster in depth yet but this years number 1 will be Cueto
This was more than one player. Brooks didn't infect people around him.

What a fun team that was.
That's all true. But you can help a team a ton of ways without having a big homerun total. A lot of what he does just doesn't show up in your typical stat sheet. But he will certainly be a good study on how front offices actually value players like Heyward and defense in general.

That's true, but the dinger usually garners the highest buck.
best moment of the year?

Other than the Chipper HR, probably the best moment of the past decade.
Maybe the Hinske HR, too. If we had won that game...wow, that would've been one of the top moments in Braves history.

Was there for the Hinske homer. Right field line upper deck. Stadium shook. Thought I was gonna die but was too happy to care. And then Brooks Conrad, home plate umpire squeezing the hell out of us and Bobby micromanaging the pen, and the feeling was gone.
