Special Sauce, you do know that the forensics team that says this was a bunch of edited lies is a democrat funded organization, right? Do you also know that another forensics team(an independent firm called Coalfire) has cleared CMP of any wrongdoing?

Decided to do a little bit of digging. Only sites calling Coalfire independent and Fusion GPS democrats were conservative rags (read Breitbart et al)

Citing the Breitbart article on this there's a massive logical consistency flaw

So removing conversations from their chronological order as well. The evidence for them is basically

The uniformity between the footage from the cameras from the two investigators also support the evidence that the video recordings are authentic.” "

Seriously, listing file date and timestamps is hardly anything substantial

I'm not saying anything like these conversations never happened, this was a clear hit piece with editing that conveyed the mood/point that CMP wanted to get across. This wasn't an expose, it was a documentary at best.

But no I won't accept WSJ editorial as a legitimate source.

I rarely use them as real sources. I'll link to articles where they site other sources. But rarely use them as sources. Typically I rely on you know BBC, AP, etc.

And it has nothing to do with making me "feel uncomfortable" and everything to do with her clearly writing opinion pieces. Or at best conservative "news" pieces where they only look at one side of the coin (such as only interviewing the conservative involved0
 
Well, this Hastert guy actually helped catch himself by passing the Patriot Act. What goes around comes around.

The Department of Justice on Thursday announced Hastert's indictment for agreeing to pay $3.5 million in hush money to keep someone quiet about his “prior misconduct.” The indictment accuses Hastert of structuring bank withdrawals to avoid bank reporting requirements, and lying to the FBI about the nature of the withdrawals. It does not reveal the “misconduct” that Hastert was trying to conceal. The recipient of the money was a resident of Yorkville, Illinois, where Hastert taught high school and coached wrestling from 1965 to 1981.

The indictment suggests that law enforcement officials relied on the Patriot Act’s expansion of bank reporting requirements to snare Hastert.

It seems a scandal is a scandal simply because one entity pounds and pounds and pounds.
Regardless the validity of the charges (birth certificate? )
While , as in this case there was a real scandal lurking under the nose of DH's friends.

There are Sandusky level accusations.

I'm curious to see the reaction of this board and across the landscape the next time some hyperbolic charges are leveled to see if anyone learns anything

I look forward to a measured, patient and compassionate responses from both sides when a scandal hits, and to the end of the hypocrisy of expecting politicians and others in positions of power to behave like saints in their personal lives. Maybe then some of these well-positioned predators will have less pomp and undeserved respect to hide behind.
 
I would hope a scandal comes out of an investigation rather than an investigation coming out of a scandal
