Postseason Thread

I wouldn't call him a failure after taking the Cubs to the NLCS regardless of what has happened or will happen in this series.

He is not a failure.. He is also doesn't have much of a pen to work with. When you turn to Cahill in the 7th inning of a tied game when already down 2 games should tell you what you have in your pen.
That being said, the pen for KC has them as my favorite to win it all.

Dayton has done a heckuva job putting that team together. I try not to think about that he could and probably should be our GM right now if JS had played his cards right.

I do have to say I am very happy for Ned Yost....a 17-7 career post season record as manager.....best all time by win percentage with at least 20 games managed...

Lol. Collins arguably has 3 aces and Murphy looks like Beltran 2004.

This is like Phil Garner 2004.

But Maddon has a magic wand and knows how to use it. Gets the most out of his players, he could be our manager now... Just goes to prove managers don't win games and don't lose them no matter what fans say. Maddon is so overrated...

Its perfectly fine not to contend for a couple years, if there is a clear plan in motion...

Sure. And isn't that what's happening right now? I just don't understand the train of thought that some have that we should have blown up our team earlier to rebuild while we were in the middle of contending.

I don't know if he's overrated, but he sure gets away with moves that others would be criticized for. The one I pointed out last night about keeping La Stella in on the double-switch after he pinch-hit only to have the pitcher due up first the next inning still puzzles me. I get that it's a new era and all, but with this particular move, he weakened his defense at two positions and had to burn a pinch-hitter right away the next inning. I've heard nary a peep regarding the move.

I wouldn't count the Jays out yet. Price and Stroman have the ability to come up big.

PS--Let's remember that Schwarber is a catcher playing LF with all the grace of Evan Gattis. There's a difference between guys who make average plays and guys who can't. It appears Schwarber can't.
