Soooo Crawford is a better SS than Simmons?

So I'll say one thing. Brandon Crawford or Nick Ahmed are the second best SS in the NL. Some stats have them pretty close to Simmons, but Simmons is still the best.

Shame he played on such a joke team, and didn't have the offensive season he could have. I'm sure offense and playing for a better team was why Crawford won.

David Wright won several years ago with more errors than 2nd and third place. Popularity contest most of the time.

Funny you mention Ahmed. The book on him when he was drafted cast a lot of doubt as to whether he would be able to stay at SS defensively. Great athlete.

Back to the topic at hand, there's no way Simmons isn't the best defensive SS in baseball.

If Simmons was playing in San Fran and Crawford in Atlanta, Simmons would have won. The legitimacy of a lot of these awards was lost a long time ago. More of a beauty contest than anything.

I think the bigger injustice is Markakis not winning the award.

Which is pretty much why the term 'gold glover' is pretty much lost on me and why most people don't even care about them anymore. The Fielding Bible awards are much much better and all really anyone should look at. The sad thing is you can't assign bonuses to them like you can Gold Gloves so Simmons would be getting shorted (assuming he has it in his contract).

No, Crawford won because he outhit Simmons. We should just be happy Jeter didnt win.
