This would be great. Hopefully we could get Barnes in the deal. Or at least some other prospect in their 5-10 range, which would be a good one since their system is loaded.

We would have to throw more into the deal. In fact, it's likely we'd have to add a little more than Miller in order to land Pederson.

I do like the idea of fielding a future lineup with 2 Petersons and a Pederson.

As these FA pitchers keep getting taken, teams will come begging the Braves to give up some of this controllable pitching talent we have. Be patient guys.

Yeah I agree. Didn't think we would get that for just Miller, just hope Barnes can be incorporated into the deal somehow.

I'm just saying that the value between the two is at best pretty similar. So there is little chance of getting Pederson plus for just Miller.

Dodgers are rumored to want to clear payroll- Wonder if we could sweeten our return by offering to taken on half of Crawfords contract? They are in the luxury tax so it would save them 15 million per year and cost us 10 million a year for two years before he's off the books. I would definitely do it if it increased our return for Shelby to let us get 1-2 good prospects along with Joc. Not Urias or Seager type but a tier below. We have virtually nothing on the books that will be even relatively expensive except Freeman and Markakis.

just saying they can be an even swap.. yes to get another prospect would require more from us.. I just don't think we need to start throwing additional players at the Dodgers just for Pederson. although, I would to get him.. I really think he will be a special kind of player one day.

Or Mallex can play a corner spot. Their have been concerns in regards to his routes to balls and such. You don't move a talent like Joc to accommodate Mallex, not with the existing questions about his defense.

If Greinke signs somewhere else then I could see the Dodgers getting desperate. Now that Zimmerman has signed and we've seen the first offer for Cueto maybe something will happen with the 2 big guys soon, bc whoever loses out will be knocking our door down.

What if it's for Joc Pederson? Reports are that we've discussed it, and I think we'd be crazy not to give Miller up for him.

Pederson is not the perfect player for us, but he's close enough. It's a very good deal for both sides. I'd pull the trigger for the Braves or the Dodgers.

Agreed. Mallex has concerns about defense. Sure he's fast but that doesn't mean he's good out there. Mallex doesn't have the power for a corner outfield spot. He'd be better served being traded to get a guy like Barnes back.

that would most certainly make HO go back to 3rd base if that were to happen..
would be a pretty potent lineup if we could dump Markakis for whatever..

Have
Bourn/Mallex(post deadline) CF
Aybar SS
Freeman 1B
Pederson RF
HO 3B
Crawford LF
AJ/CB/whoever C
Peterson 2B

I know you don't accommodate a lesser talent for a greater talent.. but Pederson has the arm and speed to handle RF more so than Mallex I feel. cutting runners going from 1 to 3rd is sooo important in this game and something we sorely missed with Nicky out there. I wouldn't want another weak thrower in RF, if I could put a strong arm like Pederson there instead. just my thoughts on the matter..
