Dodgers are rumored to want to clear payroll- Wonder if we could sweeten our return by offering to taken on half of Crawfords contract? They are in the luxury tax so it would save them 15 million per year and cost us 10 million a year for two years before he's off the books. I would definitely do it if it increased our return for Shelby to let us get 1-2 good prospects along with Joc. Not Urias or Seager type but a tier below. We have virtually nothing on the books that will be even relatively expensive except Freeman and Markakis.

That's a good idea.

Also a better (and less risky) use of the $$ than signing a "name" free agent for the sake of appearance, if you think the prospects are better than the putative return for the inevitable flip of said FA.

@RobertMurrayBBE: Source: #Dodgers and #Braves have discussed a Shelby Miller-for-Joc Pederson trade. Details: https://t.co/wTnmA1WFWg

A couple thoughts on this. My recollection is that Robert Murray does have a couple legit scoops, but he's also whiffed badly on some of his reporting. So I'm a bit skeptical of the source. Also, we'd almost certainly need to include more than Miller to get Pederson. Maybe Miller plus one of our second tier arms like Jenkins.

the article did say the trade would be centered around those 2 but there would be more involved. personally i would like to get Peraza back in a trade with LA

I don't see how we'd have to include more. Pederson hit pretty bad last year. If Miller would of had the Dodgers offense and bp last year he would have won over 15 games. Miller is pretty good and still very young. It would be an even swap imo.

Pederson kinda fell off a bit last year. The K's were alarming right ? I am way off here?

He definitely fell off in the second half, but that's true of a lot of rookies. I'm far more excited about his first half than I am concerned about his second half.

The K's were definitely high, and that may just be something that comes with him, though there is a chance he improves somewhat on that, especially given that his K-rates in the minors weren't astronomically high. But either way, his BABIP was .262 last year, and that is almost certain to come up. So even with the K's, I'd say it's pretty likely he'll be at least a .250ish hitter going forward. And given his BB rate and power, I will still take that all day from him in CF.

If Pederson were to be a bust and we made this trade, Friedman would be a God like GM.

The kid is young though and hopefully he has a bright future in front of him.

Yes, a large grain of salt here - especially in relation to the Braves.

Murray is the one who reported that Atlanta was to acquire Rafael Montero from the Mets in the KJ/Uribe deal this past deadline.

I think the preference is to trade just one. But I have a feeling somebody is gonna come forward and make us an offer we can't refuse and we trade both.

I am ok with this!!

If we trade both I want us to be blown over. Not like Coppy saying we got too much talent to pass up in the Simmons deal. Like the Simmons deal plus a high ceiling position prospect who is in AA or higher. Maybe More.

And if we do that then we have to go out and get a guy like Doug Fister for a 3 yr deal or so, right?
