Thought this deserved its own thread.

Young righthander Shelby Miller is creating quite a feeding frenzy on the trade market, and it's to the point it's got to be record interest for a pitcher who went 6-17.

The Braves, according to sources, asked the Yankees for top young righthander Luis Severino in their talks. Severino was merely a request and there is no evidence the Yanks are considering that.

The Braves are also said to have asked for a big package from the Dodgers, believed to include young outfielder Joc Pederson, and they are said to expect young outfielder Marcell Ozuna, who's available, plus more from the Marlins.

The Diamondbacks and Giants are two more of the 20 or so teams that are said to have expressed interest in Miller. The Braves generally are seeking to upgrade their offense, though obviously in the case of Severino they are willing to look at young pitchers, as well.

One rival GM, while not denigrating the asking prices, said the Braves were "very aggressive" with their proposal.

If we are really being that aggressive and someone offers an aggressive package... we'd be fools not to accept at this point.

Yep. It's good to hear we're being so aggressive. That's exactly what you do with a guy with that much interest, especially if you think his value is peaking.

I'm a big Shelby fan, but his peripherals are a bit alarming... sell high while you can when you're not competing... same thing we should have done with Minor and Hanson when we had the chance.

I like the sound of "feeding frenzy". If we were able to get any of the aforementioned players +, like the article says we are aiming for, I'd be ecstatic. Wonder what elsewhere asked the Dodgers and Marlins. Let's ask for Mookie Betts plus too!

Along those lines, a team like Boston would REALLY need a guy like Shelby if they lose out on Price or Greinke. THIS is the type of guy we could sale incredibly high on and be fine. I'm still down with a Joc trade, but if we were able to get Betts, I'd poop myself. lol

Just please PLEASE don't jump at the first offer.

I'd say we have a pretty good idea of the market at this point. If we've made this many offers, or at least had this many discussions, it's hard to fathom us not getting his true market value. I remember the Padres were asking for a lot for Kimbrel during the season, and it seemed like they were asking for too much...but they also knew once the Red Sox offer was on the table that it was the best value they were going to get for him...and they pretty much fleeced Boston in that one.

Man, we are going to get sooooooo many pitchers recovering from Tommy John....

An ingenius idea for sure.

They're looking at the Medlen and Beachy data on TJ, and have decided if they load up with enough talented pitchers recovering from TJ then they can rotate them in every season. When one guy goes out for another TJ surgery, another coming back from TJ will pitch that year. They can keep the same core of TJ pitchers rotating in and out for a few years.

Does this effect service time? If you miss a whole season with TJ does that go against service time?

Joc Pederson lol. Thought they moved on from hitters who can't hit for even a decent average? Sure he's got power, but he strikes out a ton. Funny thing is his OBP wasn't terrible. Just doesn't seem like the player the idiots covet.

Boston, LAD, or Cubs would be my preference bc one of them whiffs on the big fish and they have the most to offer.

speaking that Price and Zack are the prize, only two have the possibility to get them.. and it would be better if none or only one is able to pick one of them up. I like holding assets that other teams fight over. I think Cueto is equivalent to Miller..but a whole lot cheaper.

Cueto I believe is hurt and I think other teams believe that to. The Dbacks made him a big offer and he may wish he would have taken it. The Dodgers, Cubs, and Red Sox are said to want 2 starters so even if they do sign one of the big 2 they will probably still be after Shelby. I'm glad that Coppy is in the drivers seat here.

His k rate is virtually the same as Mike Trout's over the last 2 seasons.
