Miller market 'hot'

Heyman: source says Pederson not involved in shelby miller talks. LA made clear rathe consider trading from deep prospect stash.

That changes then if Pederson isn't available. Would Urias be off the table? If he were then I could see the Braves passing. Urias, De Leon, and Peraza are their 3 best prospects.

Interesting....so if that is the case, who are they willing to give up...?

De Leon? Segar? Urias? obviously wouldnt give up all 3, but could you steal 2? Or do a Puig, De Leon/Urias/Segar for Shelby

Seager is as untouchable as they come. Urias isn't far behind probably but they'd have to give up multiple excellent prospects. Moncada from the Red Sox is who I wish they could get. Add to it to get Swihart somehow.

They won't give up Seager. And I would imagine Urias is also off-limits.

But I don't know if De Leon plus anybody else would be enough. Puig could potentially be available, but his value is so low right now and he's not likely to be someone the Braves want anyway.

I'd say if Pederson is off the table, then the Dodgers likely aren't an option.

If they are going to trade one of Miller or Tehran, I think it's clear that Miller is the one to trade. His value is at it's peak, while Teheran's value is a bit depressed. While Miller could quite possibly pitch even better next year and become a better pitcher, he will also have one less year of control. Miller's trade value is at it's absolute peak NOW, so if the Braves don't have him in their long term plans, NOW is the time to deal him.

It would probably be best to wait until Price and Greinke sign because then Miller and Cueto will be the only TOR guys available. At that point teams will have to decide between giving Cueto $120M+ or trading for 3 years of Miller at around $20M plus the draft pick they will get if he becomes a FA.

Personally, I'm torn on the idea of trading him. I think he is a definite TOR guy that can lead the rotation going into the new stadium, and he is basically the pitcher we hope all the pitching prospects the Braves have acquired can realistically become. However, if the Braves can get a young impact position player for him, I think they have to make the trade. If it ends up being another Olivera deal I have a feeling Coppy will be run out of town.

The return has to be Soler plus an arm, or Joc, or some other fantastic package...or keep him to lead the rotation.

I would definitely be much less excited about just prospects. Their top two are untouchable and they don't have enough position prospects other than Seager to get me interested.

The problem with Moncada is that they'd basically be throwing away his $31 million signing bonus, so I doubt he's available. And the Braves would then be paying the guy to sit in the minors for the next couple years, which would be a little odd given our situation.

Agree. Trade Miller. His value his higher. FA sooner. Not home grown.

I thought they'd dump Tehran and extend Miller b/c this group seems to want all Frank Wrenn ppl gone.

I'm not trading Miller unless we get a haul and that haul includes at least one Bat who is considered to be ready in the next year or two. I'll be depressed if we trade him and we get back a poo poo platter like we got for JUp.

A package with Barnes would be great. If we could give some more and get Peraza back I'd be happy as well.

It would of been nice to have our leadoff SS already... but, we made a illogical trade. lol

Or used to unload a salary dump like they did with Kimbrel.

A Miller trade has to fix a position on the field for 4+ years with an all star caliber player, or Miller needs to stay and fill a rotation spot for the next 3 years. Simple as that really.

I mostly agree with this, though I think trading him should definitely be the priority. He doesn't offer us all that much value by keeping him unless we extend him.

or just say.. good luck then. and move on to the next team. Let them come back to you with an offer. If they want or think they need Miller, they will change their minds very quickly. The worse thing that can happen is we start the season with Miller as our ace..

Seager is untouchable and Pederson is apparently unavailable so they must not want him to bad. If they do then Urias has to be on the table. If not then go elsewhere.
