But it remains to be seen if the Mets are actually willing to move their staters. And they really only have Harvey and DeGrom that are superior to Miller.

May be the Dodgers simply covet Miller, the same way we coveted Olivera. You don't know Miller's actual value to the Dodgers or Seagar's, so stop acting like you do.

The Dodgers want to add at least two top notch pitchers this winter. We know this. And at least one reporter had made mention that they don't want to have 3 starting pitchers making 20+ million annually. So them trading for a pitcher of Miller's caliber and contract status has a fairly decent chance of happening.

And I thought the package for Heyward was amazing honestly, and most baseball experts seemed to agree.

He also mentioned that while Arizona said no on Pollock (just as the Dodgers said on Seager), they didn't say they weren't open to other possible combinations. They've got several interesting pieces (Lamb or Drury, Inciarte or Socrates Brito, Aaron Blair or Braden Shipley) they could package together that would probably fit even better than the Dodgers do.

That Arizona trade is EXACTLY the kind of trade that the Braves DON'T need. I ASSUME that it is a package for three, either Lamb OR Drury, Blair or Shipley, etc. There is no real potential star power there. Just a lot of quantity without the quality. Best case Blair or Shipley turns into Wisler (we already have a number), best case Lamb or Drury turn into slap happy third basemen with decent gloves, best case Inciarte or Brito are 4th OF.

You need AT LEAST one guy who might be a potential star.

Trading for that group of players would make me throw up in my mouth.

Keeping in mind that all clubs like dumping salary, might the Cubs want to swap Castros in this deal to get Starlin's 4 yr. $41 million off their books? We would assume, of course, that they would sent $$$ along in the deal to perhaps pay at least one of his remaining years. That would set in motion flipping Aybar.

completely agree.. I would much rather do a Miller + someone to get a Joc Pederson over a bunch of org filler with some potential.. when it comes to Miller trade that is.

Everyone needs to remember that the Braves are officially a 40 man team.. if you add two and subtract one, then a secondary move has to be made in addition. Just sayin..
 
No to that Arizona package! We haven't got one pstar back in any trade so far. This is our chance to so they better not blow it for quanity. I'd rather do a 1 for 1 trade than 3 so so players. But with the Cubs, if we take back Castro we should make them take back Olivera lol.
 
I'm inclined to agree with Hawk in general about the prospect knob-jobbing, and I'm willing to stipulate that no one is untouchable, but I think the idea that the Dodgers would trade Seager for Miller is pretty fanciful. The idea that the Dodgers--fairly deep in talent and filthy with cash-- are desperate is missing the mark, too.

The LH Newcomb back from the Angels has #1 potential. He's the best the Braves have gotten back so far...

How about Shelby and Markakis for Soler and Castro
 
If the Braves are convinced that Olivera can play third then a deal centered around Soler for Miller makes a great deal of sense. That would allow us to play either Soler or Markakis in left and have a lineup of

Bourn/Mallex
Soler
Freeman
Markakis
Olivera
AJ
Aybar
Peterson

Not terrific but not terrible. However, if there's serious concern about Olivera's ability to play third (and I think there is), then you'd have to move Markakis if you get Soler.

I like EMK's idea of including Markakis and taking on Castro. Not sure if the Cubs would go for it though.

I would like more for Miller.. Nick for Castro is very Meh to me.. Castro is a lazy fielder who is prone to errors. I really don't like owing him 40 million for the next what ever years.. To me that would be doing the cubs a favor and giving them a 2 War player in Nick plus #2 starter for Soler and his 30% K rate..(I do like him).. and taking Castro off their books so they have a spot for Baez..
