I understand the rate. I do. I don't hate Shark, he's just so overrated. He will do well in San Fran, I believe. I would of went elsewhere if I were them, though.

I like the Lackey signing the most so far. The Greinke signing the least. He is a great pitcher but it looks like an absurd overpay to me. Another data point against the Stewart/LaRussa regime.

Giants rotation is full of question marks.

After Bum.

Dont know what Peavy will do, Hudson is gone, you dont know what Cain will do, Heston ?.

That and they have money.

It's also good because once Lackey is off the books, it will be time to give Arrieta a huge deal provided he keeps it up.

The #SFGiants still looking for big bat such as Justin Upton or Yoenis Cespedes

Which is exactly why it makes sense for an organization with our budget to stockpile pitching.

It's worse for hitters which is what several posters point is. Quality baseball players are expensive on the open market. So the Braves have two options. Get a lot of good quality players who are young this cheap or decide to enter the real world and increase payroll for the first time in 15 years.

I agree, we're going to have to eventually pay big bucks for a bat or trade some of this pitching for one.

Iwakuma and Cueto wouldnt be a terrible fallback plan after losing Greinke.

Whew. O'Day is good, but this is for the best. Nats probably starting to get desperate for a high leverage RP.

Eh, 7ish mil for an elite RP is a good deal.

Sure the last 1-2 years could be killer.

Glad he didnt go to Was though.

Oh I have no issue with the amount per year. Bu he's going to be 33 in 2016 so this deal runs him through 36 so you just never know at that age.

True, he's not a guy who relies on velocity.

But yes, risk/reward with big deals in baseball is good for both sides. Good if it works out, bad you cant really trade those big deals or cut if they dont unlike NFL.

So it's going to suck if Peraza is headed to the Reds. I wanted him back!
