Braves sign Bonifacio

If Castro isn't on the team bc of this move, I won't like it.
I don't have any problem with Bonifacio being given a chance to win a roster spot. The problem I have is the same I had with Beckham - why give either one of them a guaranteed big league deal??? That's two players you've guaranteed at least $2.5 million (and as much as $3.75 million) to who bring absolutely nothing more to the table than keeping Castro and Eury Perez on the roster would've given you (actually even less when you consider Castro can handle SS defensively).
I understand your contention that they came cheap, but they offer very little that helps you win games other than experience. I'm all but positive teams weren't lining up to sign them to major league deals with players like KJ, Asdrubal Cabrera (whom we were apparently interested in as well), Mike Aviles, Sean Rodriguez, Chris Denorfia, Matt Joyce, and Will Venable still out there.
I still see us making a play for Uribe at some point, but giving those two guaranteed money does nothing other than further limit the amount of money you could have spent on MUCH better hitters as potential bench pieces.
A bench that consisted of...
C- Flowers, LF/RF/1B- Swisher (already dead money), CF/LF- Bourn (already dead money), 2B/3B/SS- Castro, and 2B/3B/LF/1B- KJ or 3B- Uribe
would've been worlds better than the two options they just wasted money on. You can't honestly believe that Beckham and/or Bonifacio will offer enough offense to make it worth your while to cut bait with Swisher or Bourn and eat their money. Bonifacio can arguably handle CF if needed, but neither of them can handle SS. I keep seeing people mention Peterson as an emergency SS, but I won't buy it until I see it.
I only hope that they've got something working behind the scenes involving Peterson that we haven't heard about - otherwise Beckham and Bonifacio appear to be pretty bad signings.

everything I am thinking and more. the money is not the issue, it is the roster spots for two players that we had internal options for. Castro/Eury(while we had him)/Bourn/Swisher can handle every position that Beckham and Emilio can play. So we cut one add two and really haven't improved our team..plus we are still in on KJ.. he is super utility guy and would make the Beckham/Emilio signings more of a head scratcher.. there has to be more going on in the background than we know.
It's still early in the off season. We can afford to wait and be patient to see how the hot stove shakes out!
That's my point entirely - if you wanted Beckham and Bonifacio to round out your roster, early December is still WAY too early to go get them - they'd likely have been available in late January if you needed them.

Odd signing. I've always liked Bonifacio but I don't know where he fits. He can play some SS and CF, meaning Castro probably is the everyday guy in Gwinnett rather than the big league back-up. I don't really have a problem with that because it would help in Castro's further development. Good bench guy, but they must be expecting more out of Beckham than I think he will deliver because I thought Beckham would assume the utility role.
To me, it underscores the oddness of the acquisition of Bourn and Swisher, which is still the way outside the box trade the front office had made to date. I get the financial angle with both those guys coming off the rolls after the 2016 season, but it's created kind of a log jam.
