sure does make the Bono and Beckham signings seem odd?!?
Nah, we need someone to front the Johns Cover Band, and we need someone to dress in underwear to draw the ladies in.

My guess one of those two will platoon with Peterson at second and the other would platoon with KJ at third.
Odd man out in that scenario would be Adonis Garcia.
If / when we add KJ, I think Swisher will be DFA'd. 5 bench spots would be: Bourn, Boni, Beck / Jace, AJP / Flowers, KJ / Garcia. It would be interesting to see how KJ would do with significant time at 3B. In this 10+ year career, he's only logged about 60 games worth of innings there. Sample is small, but looks okay by the numbers.
Kelly really could do this for us every year until we compete again, or as long as he remains a solid utility player.
He can keep getting traded to contenders in the summer, then bring back the leadership and winning secrets from other clubs to help us build our dynasty again.
I have always thought that it made some general sense for some players that are looking to play for contending teams to sign with a team like the Braves that are basically guaranteed to trade them to a contending team at the deadline. As a player, you essentially guarantee yourself that whatever team trades for you will be a contender, as opposed to trying to guess which teams will be a contender in the offseason before.
makes sense to me. I wonder if KJ would prefer to stay in ATL though. It's possible the hang up is a no trade clause or trade kicker if he'd prefer to stay close to home at this point.
However if I had to bet, I'd think playing for a couple months in a playoff race and/or playoffs is worth being away from home.
I like KJ.
Bourn has not use on this team IMO. I think Swisher has a chance to be a good pinch hitter. I'm not sure Mallex needs a mentor. Mallex needs to get on base, hopefully find some gap power, and play better D in CF.
