So the Powerball is up to $800 million....

1.) What is the first thing you do when you win?

2.) To make this baseball related, who would you give the braves money to go sign?

First thing I do is trade in my 2012 Ram 1500 Sport for a 2016 Ram 1500 Sport 4X4 lifted :)

Then i'd give the Braves money to make Bourn or Swisher go away.
 
I would disappear. off shores account.. use cash.. Gov't would get their cut at the beginning..

I would anonymously send checks to people I felt needed it. I would be very, very generous with it.. but I would make sure no one knew where I was and no one would ask me for a dime of it.

In some states you can claim anonymously. In states you can't like Georgia, if you win go to a financial lawyer and offer 10 million to them or their firm to claim the ticket on your behalf to keep your anonymity.

I'd continue working my normal job then in a year or so quit and start my own business ventures
 
I tell all my friends that if I ever win I'll show up and crash on their couch and eat all their food for a month or so. If they don't get mad and kick me out, I'll give them millions.

I wouldn't really do this, but I tell my friends that so if I need to I can show up at their house and crash on their couch and eat all their food for a couple months before they catch on.

First thing I'd do is poop my pants. Maybe have a surprise boner? Then I'd immediately go out and hire and accountant with all the money I have and figure out how to claim the money in the best way possible. I know there's some stuff where you can donate part of it and it keeps some money out of the government's hands. And I'd cut in family as partial winners so they get money without the insanity of dealing with taxes.

To be blunt if I won it all on my own, half would go to my gf, we'd take the cash, figuring then about 40% out for taxes I'd be left with about 150M, which is more money than I'd know what to do with. So I'd do a few things. I'd buy a house, buy some land and start a brewery, and probably become a minority investor in an MLS team. Most of the money would go investments so I can get keep getting richer until I have enough money to own a sports team and not have even the slightest fear of going bankrupt.

800 M is annuity which means payments over 20 years. If you had that money in your hands right now, and invested it at a 5% gain which would be a cakewalk you'd walk away with 200M more over that 20 years. Never take the annuity in anything if you can avoid it.
