I also don't want a 1-2 year deal, but can at least understand it.
4 years would be really silly.

I wouldn't want a straight up 4-year deal. If we got a deal that could go up to 4 years with vesting/team/mutual options, that would be pretty good in my opinion.

I just don't get it. Would we win a championship in the next 2 years if we signed E6? Probably not. So why give up a ~40 draft pick to get a player that we hope to trade for a prospect.. plus we wasted a spot on the 40 man roster.. plus paid a guy 13 million per for no reason... E6 could return to form with the bat, or continue a very disturbing pattern of decline. I personally would prefer our 40th pick in a very, very deep draft...

Based on what? Everything I've heard has said they can't get anyone to take the money.

Not sure where you're reading that. Nothing I've read suggests that we've actively been looking to trade him, though there has been speculation we could. And they've mentioned nothing of the Braves eating salary to move him. If anything, some articles I've read mentioned (at different points in the offseason) that Markakis could be viewed as a bargain compared to some of the similar players in the FA market.

The whole discussion is pointless. The FO isn't gonna give up a top 40 pick for him. He's not worth it. If he was don't u think he'd be signed by someone already??

Teheran for Soler still?

Inciarte CF
Aybar SS
Freeman 1B
Soler LF
Markakis RF
Olivera 3B
AJ/Flowers C
Peterson 2B

That's not a bad lineup...

Could be this by 2017: (Not 100% in order)
Inciarte CF
Albies 2B
Swanson SS
Freeman 1B
Soler LF
Olivera 3B
M. Smith LF
Flowers? C

I think we won't trade with Cubs now. I think Soler for JT is too far a part IMO.. I think the Cubs value Soler more and the Braves value JT more.

I'm not giving up Teheran if all we're getting in return is Soler. I get the potential in his bat, but in his first real year in the majors, at a not-crazy-young 23, he was terrible defensively and slugged under .400. I'd take a chance on him, but I'm not giving up the only pitcher we have who has proven himself to be good at the major league level.

that is what I think and why we won't trade with the Cubs now. The Cubs are super high on him, so I don't see them throwing another prospect in for JT, especially coming off a down year. The favorable contract that JT is signed too, helps for sure, but for a team like the Cubs, money is not as big of motivator at this point..

I think most people agree. What about a Julio for Soler/Hammel type of deal?

So, someone is probably going to be traded. lol

Doubt it, there's this thing called depth.

Schwarber/Soler split time in LF.

Schwarber backup 1B if Rizzo gets hurt.

Baez utility infielder.

Soler is good, not sure i'd trade JT in a package for him though.
