I am SO excited to see Newcomb do this thing.

I'm just not sold on Newcomb... I'm sure he's got great stuff but the lack of command is a real problem. And a few scouting reports I've read said his delivery is very smooth, so there's not an obvious fix to help command.

It's March 3, against the Tigers, who are very good. I'm not gonna read into Newcomb's future over this. Remember, we sent Ubaldo Jimenez packing after 1/3 inning yesterday.

I'm not basing anything off today. It's his career. He is a walking machine, and according to scouts, there's not an obvious fix to it because his mechanics are already smooth and repetitive.

I find it smart to judge a pitcher with 7 starts above single A on his first ST game on March 3rd
