The regressive left likes to white shame all the time. That and call those they disagree with on certain issues bigots and homophobes without evidence that it's true. A very nasty and ignorant tactic, but the regressive left really aren't nice people.

She has weaknesses, but she is arguably the only outsider that bested Trump with her very memorable line. She has strong strengths, and admittedly some weaknesses. But I think she showed in her response to Trump that she could overcome those weaknesses. I think the pubs missed a reasonable outsider candidate here. I think she was pushed aside too early and I think the reason for that (other than name recognition) is because the establishment thought that they were going to get an establishment vs. an anti establishment candidate.



I think Fiorina is an interesting choice as maybe the spoiler candidate in a contested convention.

Interesting points. Fiorina suffers from the same double-standard that Hillary suffers from. If she ever puts an edge on her voice, she's characterized as a shrill b*tch. I wonder if she has enough of an organization to convince the party she'd be a viable candidate.

If it's a contested convention, it will be interesting to see what happens. I'm guessing a Trump v. Cruz v. Kasich battle royal. It will be purists v. pragmatists.

The most intolerant group there is. You either agree with them or you hate blacks, women and gays.
 
Doesn't most of this come back to how both parties love to use laziness, ignorance, and stereotypes to control their followers? Neither side wants their followers to really know what's going on, or to know the full story about pretty much anything. Catch phrases, and stereotypes, and "anything that doesn't go along with me and the message I want to send is racist, or sexist, or ignorant, or lazy, or shifty, or socialist" and probably my favorite of all, "I don't have to do anything different or better or less sinful, criminal, or otherwise terrible, because THEY are just as bad if not worse and they aren't going to change so why should I". We look for candidates we think can win and then try to find as much of their stuff we can live with, with an acceptable amount of vomiting and we convince ourselves they really are good candidates.
 
I actually think Trump

Should court Condi Rice as VP. That will help him with some in the GOP. It won't stop Runnin or 57 from thinking he's racist but it would help with with woman and some minorities

That's actually a good idea from a strategic standpoint, reach back to the last time the Repub's won, with one of the few members of W's cabinet who actually still has a relatively good reputation, at least as good as possible when we're talking about looking across the aisle. Colin Powell would also be an excellent choice, IMO an even better choice.
 
I just think whites have to recognize that institutional racism remains. I don't know if there are many African-American posters here besides AerchAngel, so he (and perhaps others) are the only ones that truly know what it means to be black in America.

I grew up a tick-and-a-half North of White Trash in Southern Minnesota in the 1950s and 1960s. The connotation associated with my family's last name wasn't particularly glowing. We didn't have a bad reputation, but if you said the name, most thought "ignorant sh*tkicking sodbusters." But I went to the big city, got a couple of degrees, made my way up in my business, etc., etc. When I put on the suit and tie, no one really knows my background unless I tell them. I'm just a average-looking middle-aged white guy who looks like he might be moderately successful. If I were black--and I obviously can't speak to this--people would likely think "how did HE get here?" African-Americans (and Hispanics and Native Americans and Asian-Americans and African immigrants) all carry with them the burden of impressions that have nothing to do with them individually, but with depictions of their race.

There is a tendency to generalize--as OKHawk has pointed out--and it's the lazy way to do things. There are good and bad white people, good and bad black people, good and bad in every other race, good and bad gay people, good and bad bicyclists, good and bad environmentalists, good and bad weekly church attenders, and so on and so on. The problem comes when the various racial, ethnic, religious, and intellectual tribes circle the symbolic wagons and unequivocally protect members of their tribe--good or bad--at the expense of the other; again without discernment of relative guilt or innocence.

I've been listening to a Malcolm X talk from 1965. His notion of "any snake will do" is vital to black Americans, even to today.

Malcolm X saw no difference. Not saying his approach is right or wrong

But understand K, Malcolm X words ring through that mans head every time he sees Stars and Bars. Every time a KKK Grand Wizard gives an endorsement to a POTUS candidate and that candidate does not refute that endorsement.
Every time Trayvon Martins killer walks into a police station and is treated like he just J-walked.
Or the killer of 8 black church goers gets taken for fast food on the way to being booked for murder.
Or when a city's children are drinking and bathing water contaminated by lead - because ...

When a black man see's and hears this ****, "any snake will do" is relevant to the time
No I don't understand the black americans experience- but I do the listening when they do the explaining, and to merely dismiss it as "hate speech" really doesn't accomplish a damn thing

But let me ask you, do you consider he reaction or anticipation to aggressive bigotry, racism ?

That would be quite a situation. I don't think she'd accept it but it would create some news.
 
After what Trump did to Jeb do you really think Condi would betray the Bush family like that? Dubya was extremely loyal to her and I'd imagine that would be treason for her against the family to do such a thing.
 
I'm curious why all these anti-Trump protesters weren't marching the streets again Obama and Bush for all their violence across the world

I guess they were more discreet
