2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

LINK: OU professor: Youths' attraction to Sanders shows education failure

It's disheartening that an avowed socialist is a viable candidate for president of the United States. Socialism is a dead end. For hundreds of years, it has failed everywhere it's been adopted. The enthusiasm of our youth for the candidacy of Bernie Sanders is a symptom of our failure to educate them, not only in history, government and economics, but also basic morality.

...

Socialism isn't so much a legitimate economic system as it is a moral failing. It will always exist because ignorant people will always want something for nothing. If we want to retain our freedom and prosperity, then we must educate our children that the purpose of government is to secure liberty, not provide free lunches.

very interesting recap of (R) primary season

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/03/frank-rich-trump-didnt-hijack-gop.html

For all the Republican talk about “personal responsibility,” the party’s leaders have worked overtime to escape any responsibility for fanning the swamp fevers that produced Trump: They instead blame him on the same bogeymen they blame everything on — Obama and the news media. What GOP elites can’t escape is the sinking feeling that a majority of Republican voters are looking for a president who will repudiate them and, implicitly, their class. Trump refuses to kowtow to the Establishment—and it is precisely that defiance, as articulated in his ridicule of Romney and Jeb Bush and Megyn Kelly and Little Marco, that endears him to Republican voters and some Democrats as well. The so-called battle for the “soul” of the Republican Party is a battle over power, not ideology. Trump has convinced millions of Americans that he will take away the power from the pinheads on high and return it to people below who feel (not wrongly) that they’ve gotten a raw deal. It’s the classic populist pitch, and it will not end well for those who invest their faith in Trump. He cares about no one but himself and would reward his own class with extravagant tax cuts like any Republican president. But the elites, who represent the problem, have lost any standing that might allow them to pretend to be part of the solution

I can see why you'd like this guy's opinion since it pretty much mirrors yours, but you have to realize, or should anyway, that you're not the typical right wing zealot who would right along behind a guy like this. This is typical right wing propaganda, and you know what makes propaganda successful, half truths, part of the story, cherry picked facts, like our case for going to war in Iraq.

This isn't intended for you sturg (since you don't fit into any of these groups), it's a general "truth infusion" for anyone who loves to criticize the DUMAS Dems but loves how fiscally responsible the Repubs are. They point out how we need to cut spending (which is certainly true, we need to cut it and we need to cut it a LOT pretty much everywhere) but what these people won't tell you is they have no intention cutting it across the board, they only want to cut it on programs they disagree with.

The state of OK is run by right wing morons who do the same thing right wing morons always do, they cut taxes, especially on the wealthy and corporations and then they slash programs, except anything that helps the wealthy and big corporations, oil companies, etc., then they turn a blind eye to the ****storm their policies create. The corporate welfare is still alive and well, the corporation commission was actually expanded here while everything else has been slashed and we still have about a $1B budget shortfall because of these programs.

They charge me state income tax even though I don't work in OK at all while the upper crust I just mentioned get every perk in the book, like free or cheap land to build their companies, free or cheap utilities, little or no taxes on anything, the governor passed a law that declared that nobody had to raise minimum wage no matter what the federal government said, called the EPA the "out of control EPA" so if they complained about all the poisons they're pumping into the ground here (fracking) their minions would just go along with it blindly, which of course they do. One oil company in OKC tried to get every science professor at OU (those who brought up with his practices was/is doing to the state) fired without cause, except for the cause of telling the truth about him and what he was up to. And these corporations whine and bitch like all corporations do about the horrible taxes they pay, though if you'll check they rarely pay any

They're also planning on cutting taxes again, especially for "you know who" even though we can't currently pay our bills (sound familiar)?

Gov. Fallin (whose nickname I'll tell you about some other time when I'm not pressed for time) is now trying to push through a bill to totally gut education, starting with eliminating the criteria for teachers to be able to teach here, no salary structure, no requirements, no incentives, but what do you want to bet it won't apply to the salaries SUPERINTENDENTS get. Check out that link.

Anyone who thinks teachers get paid too much has clearly never set foot into a classroom in a public school and tried to control and teach these little sweethearts. Of course these people also want to gut testing standards and requirements which doesn't really fit with the usual M.O. of the far right, but here you can eliminate the standards and then whine and bitch when our kids don't meet the same standards as everybody else in the nation.

OK only fails to get mentioned as the laughingstock we've become because we're surrounded by two even more bat**** states to the north (KS) and the south (TX).

But hey, I fully support the right of any person who is either too ignorant (there goes that whole education is failing us again) to recognize the differences between socialism, which we ALL practice, and communism, but if it really bothers anyone enough they can stop driving on socialist streets, highways, stop calling the police or fire departments when they're in trouble, stop going to publicly owned hospitals when they're sick, disband the military, and get the eff off the Internet, since it was paid for by all sorts of people and companies, including tax money. And among those who scream about socialism the loudest, the "I really hate socialism so much" club, the defense contractors, like KBR, with Vlad Cheney. Ask him I'm sure he really hates socialism, since they made (at least check) well over $40Billion in profits from our wars in the Middle East.

If the utter and complete failures of guys like Brownback and Jindal don't dispute the notion that there is a pristine conservative dreamland out there, I'm afraid nothing will.

From what I have been reading, a Super PAC unrelated to Ted Cruz created an ad that caused Chump's latest blowup on Twitter. Even though not related to Cruz himself, go ahead and make a fool of yourself and threaten his wife.
