Georgia Religious Freedom Bill

If you don't want serve queers, blacks, whites, males, females, etc. that should be protected. The right to discriminate is second only to property rights. Some of you must have been big fans of arranged marriages. Quit trying to legislate morality and force people to behave the way you want them to iron pyrite.

There's always freedom to be a jerk, but you can't work in the service industry you refuse to serve ANY paying customers.

this just seems like a new way of the people that are just anti-gay to continue to perpetuate the lie that all homosexuals are pedophiles

which is ironic knowing the catholic churches history with pedophiles
 
what it really comes down to is, if you were in favor of this law

you favored legal discrimination under the guise of religion

plain and simple

spin it whatever way you want but it's that clear cut.

i feel we as a state and a country can do better

thankfully the Gov veto'd it

I don't care either, but obviously there are some people who have reasonable concerns. Think for a second about how contradictory your argument is. You essentially say that nobody should care where they use the bathroom. Well, why exactly does that not apply to transgender folk. If nobody should care where they use the bathroom then why aren't they being the uptight ones?

The second part of your argument is not really an argument at all, it's just you being an internet bully. Just an absurd and dumb comment.

I am a purist on the separation of church and state in the formal sense because I think when either side starts to exert too much control over the system as a whole, it cheapens both the secular and religious realms. I fully realize that it's not that simple and that there will be gray areas that legislatures and courts will have to figure out and those things will be weighed a case-by-case basis.

kr, if you don't think there's predatory behavior going on in public restrooms now, you have lived a fairly charmed life. Maybe it's because I was so cute (insert laugh track) when I was young and drunk most of the time, but I used to get all kinds of offers and come hither looks in the men's restroom way back when (and these were straight bars). There seems to be this hypersexualization of the gay and transgender population that likely isn't true.

Trolling. Unfortunately that is the case too often. I don't see it stopping until all outward disagreement is outlawed in some form or fashion. It's about approval, not acceptance or tolerance for too many.

Restroom Predatory Behavior - Just have to be careful imho, that that sort of argument doesn't become, "well since I was hit-up by a pervert in the public restroom, then girls should be fair game too"... Predatory behavior is evil no matter by whom. One of the guys behind the Charlotte ordinance was a registered sex offender, from what I hear.

Why DNA and plumbing no longer matter, only one's wishes and desires just seems really weird to me. Course I must just be an old bigot.

You know that's not what I am saying. What I object to here is the assumption that homosexuals and transgender people are hypersexualized and always acting as predators. My response to kr was he must have lived a charmed life if he's never been hit on. I am certainly not condoning that women should be subject to the whims of predators. I just think this is all a scare tactic by the radically uninformed.
 
I didn't want to thank Bedell's earlier post itt, because that post was a bit of a cheap shot, but it did change the conversation in a postive direction so I had to thank it in the end.

In no ways am I correlating homosexuality or being transgender with pedophile or being rapists what I'm saying is pervs will act like they are transgendered to go in the women's restroom.
