Frenchy and Flowers with 2 out RBI's.

4 scoreless for Chacin to this point.

Not bad!

I don't put much, if any, stock into spring training, but we have really fumbled away a lot of games late this spring.

The way the game has evolved you can't rely on just your top 3 or 4 relievers. The manager needs to have confidence in at least six, preferably all seven, guys out there. The way Fredi handles the pen, if he doesn't have confidence in two or three guys, he ends up overworking the ones he trusts. That's why its of some importance to pick up a decent second lefty.

I was at this game and can say that it was definitely decided in garbage time. Both teams had scrubs in the lineup and on the mound.

Other observations: Chacin looked good, much better than his last outing. Winkler (seen him twice) looks legit as hell. Kinman gave up a hit but still looked poised and around the strike zone.

Hursh has been awful three times when he's been called upon in MLB games. OK if the Braves decide he's pitched his way out of the system. I know I got no confidence in him.

Sometimes we are a bit too harsh on the higher draft picks who disappoint. Gilmartin will never be a star but looks like he will have a useful career. I think it was mentioned in another thread that we lost him in the Rule 5 draft in part because the FO preferred to protect Yean Gil by giving him a place on the 40-man roster.

You have to get guys into somewhat specific roles, but some guys are going to have to expand their preferred role at times to save on the top guys' arms. Any word where Cotts will sign?

Wasn't Gillmartin the piece we sent to the Twins for Ryan Doumit?
