What do we think about his long term potential? He's off to a good start in AA...

Someone to watch. Was really raking until the bus accident sidelined him for a month last year. Didn't hit nearly as well after he came back.

Interesting to watch his change since he was acquired. A free swinger in Low A when he was in the Padres' system, but seems to have become more patient at the expense of his power both in Carolina and early-on in Mississippi. Braves moved him to the OF. He was a high school SS, but scouts always thought he would end up at another position. He played 3B his two years in the Padres' system.

High draft pick (2nd round, 50th overall) in 2013. Some scouts liked him better than his older brother, D.J. Peterson, who is currently in the Mariners' system and was drafted in the first round out of the University of New Mexico (12th overall) in the same draft.

I'm hopeful. He's advanced every year and he's young for AA, so it will be a proving ground for him. He's a physically big kid, so the power may come.

He was a guy I thought had a pretty high ceiling with a relatively low chance of hitting it when we traded for him. He's now a guy I consider to have a lower ceiling but a better chance of reaching it than I did then.

I think he has a shot to be either a decent LF option or at least a good 4th OF. But shoot, I hope he proves me wrong and tears it up.

Funny how that works sometimes.

i asked about him earlier....he seems to hit. not hitting HRs but IIRC he does collect a decent number of doubles.

LF puts a lot of pressure on his bat. Was he that bad at 3B? Garcia is playing there for the MLB club.

Olivera and frenchy say what pressure

I thought he was great piece in the Upton trade. Good pedigree and some good potential. Displayed decent power so far despite being young and missing a month last year due to the bus crash.

I think he's definitely someone to keep an eye on.

His fielding stats as a 3B in rookie ball and Low A weren't that great. The only thing I had read about him at draft time was that he wasn't going to stay at his HS position, which was shortstop. There were, and probably still are, some questions about his raw athletic ability. I think the Braves view him as a guy who plays "bat" and wanted to get him to a position where he could concentrate more heavily on the offensive side of the equation. All speculation on my part.
