ROSTER MOVES

Trevor Belicek promoted from Rome to Mississippi

LHP Jon Kennedy assigned to Rome. 6-foot-9 Australian, nephew of longtime Braves scout Phil Dale, signed last fall.

Barring injury, I think Folty will be a big part of the major league rotation the next five or six years.

I do too. I was fine with the Gattis trade because of his upside. I think he has a chance to be a real bulldog type player. 175-200 IP with an ERA around 3.50-3.80.

I;ll be honest here I have just about written Folty off. At this point I will be happy if he can just be a late inning reliever. I'll wait for him to string together 2 great starts before I start buying into any more hype.

People tend to write off young pitchers too quickly, its like everybody expects them to come up and dominate and if they don't they are done with them.

He's still a puppy and a puppy armed with 97mph gas and potential off-speed stuff...... gotta let a guy like that percolate a little bit.

He also is coming off a major surgery where he couldn't throw all winter. He took his lumps last summer in the bigs.. let him have his off season now to work on the things he should have in Nov/Dec/Jan...

What worries me the most about him is his failures as a reliever and how hittable his fastball has been.

His velocity and (decent) control alone would make him a good reliever down the stretch IMO. I think FB movement is something he needs to continue to work on, but he's shown spurts of being dominant. Give him time. He may be garbage, but he's young and has a massive upside nonetheless.

With a pitcher of Foltys ability his FB could become devastating with something as simple as an improved 2 seamer with some movement to keep hitters from sitting dead FB with him. Then boom... it clicks.

If Ruiz continues to hit and Garcia falters, think Ruiz could get a shot this year?

I do. He's already in AAA, so he doesn't have much further up to go. lol Plus we have another guy in Riley for 3B so I doubt they mind starting one of the two clocks early.

It's only a week, but man Riley isn't exactly quieting the skeptics with that K rate. Yikes.
