GDT 5-11-16: Braves vs. Phillies

Can we put Aybar at second in the 9th instead of wasting Castro there? Aybar's arm, lack thereof, has cost Viz a run against recently too. Might again.

Great game Perez, too bad you didn't get a shot at the CG though. Braves win at home, win number 2! Tied with Twins again I think, or maybe they have one more loss?

Impeded, perhaps, by the exhaust particulate haze in the air.

Good win. That's probably as easy as it will get for them this year.

I can see both sides of the decision to pull Perez. Vizcaino has to get his work in somehow. Would have been nice to let Perez finish it out though.

Perez could've started 9th, if a runner reaches it's save situation. Then go to Viz and he gets a save for his work. Not that he had to pitch tonight anyway. But you kill two birds with one stone that way.

I don't know when Viz last pitched, but Whitey Herzog used to have a rule of thumb: Never work your closer three days in a row and never let them go three days without work. Again, I don't know when Vizcaino last pitched, but if he doesn't stay sharp, you run an injury risk with him (as you would if you pitched him all the time). I think the other rule of thumb on closers now is that you always have them start the 9th.

Sunday was his last time out.. he pitched both Sat and Sun.
