Angels considering moving Trout?

MLBTradeRumors had a blurb the other day saying that contacts were saying that the Angels should consider moving Trout. Please note, I haven't seen anything where the Angels have said that they are even remotely interested in moving Trout.

But if so, how much (any team, not just Braves) would it take?

I mean, we're talking about a once in a generation type player who is very likely on his way to the HoF barring unforeseen circumstances, who's still baseball young, who's signed for 4 more years to a reasonable contract by today's standards and who is the DiMaggio, Williams, Bonds or McGuire of his franchise.

I just can't see how they do it under ANY circumstances, at least not until 2020 and it's clear he won't be back.

But now......what would it take?

Obviously, they would want a lot of cheap talent back. But minor league? Young ML? A mix? Would they want to send a salary dump along with him? Pujols would be most likely if not for his no-trade?

Then they likely won't do an inter-division trade. So a Texas LAA trade would be highly unlikely. Which eliminates a Gallo, Brinson, Mazara, Profar type trade.

And, any contender is unlikely to send multiple integral ML parts until after the season.

If Trout flat out tells the Angels he won't sign before free agency and his preference is NYY then Anaheim may not have as much leverage.
 
I'd imagine that IF there were talks to trade him, there is not one team in the league that has the talent required to get him. It would take a MASSIVE 3 or even 4 team trade to get the chips headed to LAA

I understand that but he's signed through 2020 (the blurb I saw suggested trading him today). Now, apparently he does have a full no trade, so he has a say.

I wonder if the Yanks or their mouthpieces are stirring things up?
 
I wouldn't trade for Trout personally. The talent it would take to get him would cripple the team for a long, long time... I am not a believer that one superstar is required to win a championship... Hell, the Gnats have Harper and Stras (two once in a life time players) and have not won squat... I prefer to build the organization from the minors up..
 
I highly doubt it. This is just speculation about what they should do. Unless Trout demands a trade I dont see it happening. Hypothetically speaking though I think they would want as much ML talent or close to ML talent as possible. Inciarte or Mallex would probably have to go to replace Trout in their outfield. I could see them asking for both Swanson and Albies. Swanson shouldnt happen but I might include Albies. So Inciarte/Albies is the core of the deal. Yeah I know neither comes close to replacing Trout but they are cheap and Trout is set to make 34 million after this year. Now for the pitching. I could part with Newcomb/Ellis/Folty/Jenkins. We dont really have any elite SP in the high minors so we have to go with quantity. Probably have to give them a decent throw in prospect. Lets say Max Povse. So all together thats Trout for Inciarte/Albies/Newcomb/Ellis/Folty/Jenkins/Povse. That wouldnt be my first offer but thats about what I would be willing to go to.
 
Only a few teams have what it takes.

Boston could trade JBJ, Moncada, Devers, Swihart.



We could do Swanson, Newcombe, Albies, Inciarte.

Not saying that would wise of either team.

Texas and the Dodgers might be only other teams able too.
 
I read an article where the author asked a front office guy what it would take to trade Trout, and the package had to consist of a top 5 prospect who was a position player, plus 3 other major parts. For the Braves that would mean the package centers around Swanson, Inciarte, Teheran and at least one other elite pitching prospect, but probably 2 more pitching prospects.

Something like Swanson, Inciarte, Teheran, Sims and a lower level arm.

The BoSox could get something going if they included both Moncada and Benintendi. The Dodgers would have to include Seager and Urias.

This package from the Braves also doesn't come close. The Dodgers are probably the only team that might be able to do it, and it would not only require Seager and Urias but probably de Leon as well.
 
I just can't see it being worth it at all. I LOVE Trout and would love to have the guy, but we'd have a couple good years or him and no one around him.
 
I agree that the Yankees deal doesn't do it, but that's about the best I could come up with from them that made any sense.

I really wasn't thinking about this from a Braves angle but what would you think about:

Angels get: Freeman, Inciarte, Teheran, Viz

Braves get: Trout and Pujols (assuming both waive their no trade)

I know how I would feel about it, but curious

You would have to include Albies and Swanson and take on most of the Pujols contract, but that's definitely getting closer.

Our package going back would have to be A LOT BEEFIER.

Freeman is a really good, but not elite 1B, Teheran is a #3 maybe #2, Viz is a closer and Inciate may not even be a full-time starter. Even picking up Pujols salary - that's not close.

It would take a package that feels like a kick to the nuts as a fan;

Something like;

Inciarte, Blair, Folty, Albies, Swanson, Viz, Soroka and Acuna - and that's probably not enough.
