GTD: braves at pirates new era begins

Yea, I warned of that being likely with him given his track record. Kid can look amazing a month and then lost just as long or more after that. Hopefully he gets going again soon this year.

It's not just his track record, either. His BABIP was well over .400 early and is still at .370. That's just not sustainable, which is why I say he'll likely fall further. Needs to cut his K rate down and develop the power before he's a legitimate option for us.

That's true too, keep in mind I've never argued him being close to being ready. I don't think he'll be ready anytime soon.

I really like what our pitching prospects have done on the whole this year, and obviously Albies and Swanson look great. We really need at least one of the Davidson/Ruiz/Peterson group to emerge. Peterson has looked good this year but has been a little up and down, and Ruiz obviously tore it up early but is faltering. Still, I like the chances of one of those guys becoming a good major leaguer with some pop.

If I had to bet on one of those three I'll take Davidson. Though I do think Ruiz will make it, just most likely a utility type player that goes the way of Kubitza (traded for Sanchez). If we can I'd trade Ruiz for another Sanchez type. Peterson I'm expecting to go the way of his brother but I like him and hope I'm wrong. Davidson has had a slow start in High A while showing some life of late, hope he gets it going soon.

Ruiz is a better prospect than Kubitza, at least in terms of ceiling. I wouldn't be looking to trade him right now, and if I did, I'd be looking for a slightly better return than Sanchez.

I just don't see either of them making much of impact in MLB. Plus Sanchez is a pretty good lefty pitching prospect IMO. If a team offered another like him for Ruiz I'd consider it.

I have higher hopes for Riley and Yepez as possible helping at third in the future but we'll need someone to bridge the gap either way.

Question to the board..

So AJ was charged with an error last night to allow the 1st run to score.. Then there was a single that scored another run. Someone struck out to make 2 outs.. then 5 more runs scored. Shouldn't Blair's line be for the 1st inning.. 1ip/ 7R/ 1er? I thought if there was an error, then any run that scores after the 2nd out is unearned..

Davidson isn't going to get anything going consistently until he gets more aggressive with the bat. He consistently puts himself into the hole by taking too many strikes because of his "plate discipline". Get aggressive and swing the bat early in the count!
