Trade ideas

Plus putting too much stock in minor league stats vs scouting reports. I would rather have more options rather than less

As would I, but the options have to be decent bets to have success. I love how you mention scouting when I specifically mention Sanchez's poor defensive skills via scouting. And Brinson has terrible grades when it comes to his hit tool, which is pretty much his entire issue hittingwise. It doesn't matter how good hit power, speed, and defensive grades are (and they are excellent) if he can't make contact worth a damn. Here is a report on him from 2 years ago that highlights some of the issues with Brinson:

Beyond the poor hit tool, he also has had extremely high BABIP numbers in the minors, which is a very bad sign when combined with his strikeout issues. He has BJ Upton written all over him to me.

I wish he could be BJ Upton. BJ was a 4 WAR player over his first 6 seasons

And I was referring to the .240 hitting version of Upton, not the .270+ hitting Upton with the 12%+ walk rate. Clearly nobody would have an issue with a 3.5-4 WAR a year player. Regardless, I don't see a player hitting over .250 at the MLB level in Brinson ATM.

Alex Gordon now out 3-4 weeks for KC. If they were truly interested in Markakis before, they can only be more interested now.

too bad he still in't hitting .290, but at least his OBP is still decent. maybe we can get a B prospect for him

It's time to deal Vizcaino. Great closer probably, but we've got Simmons coming back and hey, Bud Norris throws 97 for one inning. Anyway, I think teams who can compete and don't have a good one are a place to go to get an overpay. And we need power and need to fill holes at catcher and eventually one outfield slot in the worst way.

My suggestion: to the Mariners for Tyler O'Neill and Mike Zunino. O'Neill is pre-hype (he'll be on mid season prospect lists - 32 dingers last year and vastly improved contact this year while moving up a level) and Zunino post (rushed by Jack Z, has his confidence and stroke back), both are ISOing nearly .300 at AA and AAA, respectively. The Mariners are looking at a special season but lack of a dominant closer (Cishek) threatens to spoil it for them.

It leaves their Jacksons intact but would really help us, and for them it might mean the pennant.

Possibly trade Adonis Garcia for Zunino?
