Who should our next manager be?

I want to see a manager that has our players back. I'm sorry after 2 of your players in a row, one of whom is your catcher, complain about called strikes a foot inside, you need to get your lazy ass out there and do something about it. In the middle of a losing streak you have to do something to stir it up. You may not win that game but who knows how your team responds the next.....

I created a list of who I think the next manager will be. Not necessarily my preference, just who I think the candidates will be.

Bud Black

Bo Porter

Terry Pendleton

Ned Yost

Eddie Perez

Walt Weiss

John Farrel/Torey Lovullo (Farrell if fired, Lovullo if Farrell is retained)

Ron Gardenhire (Long Shot)

I so desperately want them to go outside the organization, but I'm doubting it since it isn't the Braves' way.

I also have a bad feeling Fredi will outlast this disaster. If he can outlast 3 September/Playoff collapses, he can outlast this.

Torey Lovullo would be my early favorite.

Things being said about Ross are the same things that were said about Mike Redmond.

I thought Redmond was a good manager. But the last time we hire an ex Marlin manager didn't work out too well.

I like that interview. He seems to be able to blend the stats with his experience very well, or at least he says he can.

I'm an Eddie Perez guy if he can show he understands stats and is willing to work with the front office.

I like Ross' answers. I'd love to add him to the staff.

Having watched him quite a bit in Minnesota, we should stay away from Gardenhire.

In the same sense, I think the front office, who obviously wants to use advanced stats, needs to realize and be willing to accept that the stats are just a set a tools at the disposal of the manager, not an end all be all reason for doing things.

Beginning to warm to the thought of DeRo - which surprises me. Have listened to him closely when I've had chances recently, and think he actually makes for a pretty good candidate - has obvious ties to "The Braves Way", but also talks a lot about what he's learned from being around more numbers-savvy minds since he's been with the network. Would be the type of guy I think Bobby and JS would get behind without feeling he had to be some kind of puppet.

I can't get behind him just yet. One good thing is that Mark has a great relationship with Dayton Moore. Here is a good article: http://www.royalsreview.com/2014/10...ts-world-series-with-mlb-networks-mark-derosa

Yeah, well I'd love for Bobby to be our manager again. I bet he could even turn this clown-show into respectability.

A good manager is not always a good estimator/selector of other managers.

Something else to consider: a manager that speaks spanish. Especially if the Braves are going to be making a splash on the international scene.

I don't think our FO is that stat driven.

Coppy's deal is supposed to be a fusion of stats and scouting. JS and Cox are not stat heads by any means. I don't think Hart is a saber guy.

Honestly I don't think teams need managers. I think they mostly get in the way. FO should be able to set the line up. Pitching coach can make the pitching changes. Bench coach can make adjustments, hit and run, etc. Managers mostly just talk to the media.
