Never Ending Tennis Thread [Roland Garros, French Open 2017]

I think this is the worst sports year of my life. And it of course comes in a year of personal upheaval, as well. ****ing crazy.

Well we really took 2014 and 2015 for granted. Remember he had the same back injury in London 2014 and almost didn't play in the Davis Cup.

Very true. His whole career has been more than you can hope for as a fan. Same with the Braves, in a lot of ways. Still...it feels like **** when that starts to fall away. We've been spoiled.

Truly he started to look like he was done in 2013.

Then the new racket and Edberg extended his career. The fact he's been the only person to consistently best Novak the last 2 years says a lot.

:fredi:

It's absurd there's nobody to push him. Two old legends, his punching bag and that's it.

A couple of the young guys are close, I think. Next year or so. But yeah. I like him well enough, at least. He's not Nadal, and I'm thankful for that.

Murray is frustrating. He's similar to how Djokovic used to be. Always letting his emotions tank matches. I expect him to have a similar turn, though he will never go on the run Djokovic is on right now. He'll get #1 though.

Murray at his peak was much more entertaining to watch. Under Lendl he was so aggressive and way more offensive than Djokovic.

I just like Murray's fire more than Djokovic .

Federer looking stronger.

Cilic beat him at USO 2 years ago but I think Rog takes it because Wimby is as big of home court advantage as Roland Garros to Nadal.

:pound:

Really happy to see him rebounding. I know there isn't long for him at the top, but I think he has at least one more great year in him. So fun to watch.

Amazing when you typed this 2 years ago we thought the window was closing and here he is made semis at Melbourne and a quarters at Wimby.

Holy hell. What a match. Hope he has enough left to win this. I can't imagine how much that took out of him. Incredible comeback.

It was first time he's faced any adversity in any match since Djokovic in Australian. He said he felt great after the match and that his back and legs were still strong after the 5th.

Personal worst year in sports. I also ****ing hate everyone. I'm just going to hide under the bed until hockey season.
