The Don

Like every other speech this campaign season, I thought Trump's speech tonight was, as usual, lacking in depth and vision. The people of this country embarrass me. One of these two people is going to be president. I will not be voting.

It's because all major politicians are snakeoil salesmen. Trump won the nomination because he's the best salesman in the republican party. Question is, can he now con a healthy chunk of the independent and the reps who didn't like him so he can get the nom? We'll see.

I'm leaning toward it being an electoral blowout. I don't see any states Obama won in 2012 that Trump flips, and he may have a hard time hanging on to a handful of states Romney won. But then again, it's Trump, who has defied expectations numerous times. And the Dems are running Hillary, who also has high unfavorable ratings. It's really difficult to predict, mostly because we have no idea what's going to happen over the next five months. Will the evangelicals turn out? Will the millions of young people who have been making it seem like Bernie or bust show up? Will black voters turn out for Clinton? The only certainty is we are screwed either way it goes. But we've been screwed for a long time anyway.

Just because Trump, who we know takes his body language very seriously, copies some of Hitler's poses, that doesn't mean Trump is anything like Hitler. It only means that he would like to be.

presidents just aren't that important. if people gave as much a damn about their congressmen and state and local officials i reckon things would run much smoother. all a president is, is the mayor of the country. I'm not saying they are toothless, but their actions ,generally, have far less impact on the daily lives of most people than the other pols I mentioned. (ans 90% of the time, when the president DOES do something that impacts everyone, it's a stupid decision (like obamacare)

That is so true. Being the head of the entire Executive branch as well as the de facto leader of their political party is not that big of a deal. It's kinda funny how the media follows them around and hangs on their every word, considering how unimportant they actually are.

as far as impacting your daily life , he is less important than your state and local pols.

Been a rough week for the Donald and I think the thing that could get him back on track and put him on the Yellow Brick Road to the White House would be a bold choice for his running mate:

She is one of the people with the definition of Crazy Eyes.

I reckon Trump Picks Gingrich so he can have an experienced and respected insider to help keep him off the crazy train, as much as possible anyway. It's the smart move to make. One good thing for repubs out there is that Trump won't be letting the idiotic party platform campaign people make his choices for him like say McCain did (I think McCain wins that election if he picks a smarter, middle of the road GOP guy who could deliver a state rather than friggin Palin)

Unless that guy could have delivered Ohio, Florida, NC, and Virginia, that's pretty doubtful . . . and you're still short 20. Palin is horrible, but she ain't that horrible.

it really changed everything, i mean sure the electorate are mostly selfish idiots, but Obama wasn't on some clear easy run until after Palin came on board. if Mac had been smart and picked Lieberman, i think he wins.

You're entitled to your opinion, but no VP is going to flip an election with that much daylight between the candidates. Palin was a Hail Mary chuck into the end zone—why do you think the campaign was throwing a Hail Mary?

But, yeah, JOE FREAKING LIEBERMAN would have electrified America.

After the economic collapse McCain had zero chance to win.
