Anderson has been shooting up the charts and he'll be picked in the top 10 I'm sure but I'd still rather go with Moniak at 3 if he is there. This system needs bats bad.

JMO, but pretty tough for me to criticize Anderson personally. This regime came out of last year's draft with Allard and Soroka - their feel for HS Pitchers looks pretty good so far. If they think that highly of Anderson, it probably says more about what they think of the bats than anything else. If taking him gets you 2 or 3 of the Top 20 guys on your board with your first three picks, you've gotta feel pretty good.

Already starting the spin? I admire the dedication

Not liking the rumored thing of Anderson then HOPE to get a bat at 40.

If Lewis is there, i dont know how you pass on him.

I think it's pretty easy to see how a team could pass on Lewis. I love the upside and bat speed, but there are clear concerns about competition, contact ability, etc. that can scream bust.

I'm not saying that's certain to happen and I would even be fine with taking him at 3 and hoping he'd be awesome, but I think it's pretty easy to see the concerns.

Lewis is reportedly one of the highest character kids in the entire draft. If they let a one day workout be their deciding factor, then I would seriously question the scouting dept judgement.

I wouldn't. A workout is pretty dang important.

How do you figure?

I'm not saying we HAVE to take Lewis. But to let a single workout completely take him off your list is dumb, IMO. What can you really learn from a single workout?

Didn't say that, but thanks for chiming in.

ok, then what are you getting at? if they decide to pass, it would surely be a combination of things, not just the ONE workout.

IF he's off their board at 3, maybe they weren't sold after scouting and the workout didn't help matters. maybe they found out how much he wants and don't want to pay it.

I'm starting to agree that all this chatter about Anderson or Ray or Lewis is just misdirection, that they have their eye on someone else that I haven't seen mentioned with the Braves yet, which would be Moniak. Perhaps they're hoping he'll fall to 3.

The report was that at least two teams have dropped off Lewis after recent workouts. I understand there isn't a clear cut choice at No. 3 and I'm sure several guys are rated similarly, but to completely take him off your list based on his most recent workout is dumb.

why? if they weren't sold before it and the workout confirmed what they didn't like, how is it dumb? it's accumulation of knowledge. it's not like they loved the kid and then worked him out and turned on him.
