One of the biggest concerns about the Braves strong farm system is the lack of blue chip prospects. I think those are partially mitigated by Albies and Swanson, but I was really hoping we would use this draft to get a 3rd. Instead it looks like it's going to be a "I'll trade you a 10 for two 5's kind of draft", which is fine but admittedly kind of disappointing

Gotta agree. All the latest speculation about Anderson and hoping for strong picks at 40/44 is extremely disappointing to me. I'd rather roll the dice with Lewis. This system needs a superstar BAT. If Moniak is available at 3, then I'd be down with that too, but sounds like he's going Phillies. Well, here's hoping Maitan works out.

JMO, but pretty tough for me to criticize Anderson personally. This regime came out of last year's draft with Allard and Soroka - their feel for HS Pitchers looks pretty good so far. If they think that highly of Anderson, it probably says more about what they think of the bats than anything else. If taking him gets you 2 or 3 of the Top 20 guys on your board with your first three picks, you've gotta feel pretty good.

People point to Lewis perhaps not hitting 95, but again, he was great in the Cape. He's proven it, even in a relatively small sample, against legit pitching.

and he has one thing you can't teach: bat speed. He's pretty new to focusing only on baseball, so I think 2 years in the farm system could help get his contact tool up a bit, and probably without losing much if any game power. I must admit, I looked at his film, and the bat speed sold me. it is Gary Sheffield-esque (not that I am predicting shef's career or anything)

I like Anderson but he is no where near a top 5 prospect. If they pass on Lewis, Groome, or Moniak I'll be pretty disappointed.

I'll be extremely disappointed if we settle for Anderson at 3. Even if we get Rutherford with our next pick. We need a high ceiling college bat and there are multiple guys who should be available st 3 that fit that description. If we take a HS pitcher at 3, if better be Groome or Benson.

Way I see it, if we take Lewis 3rd, some overslot arms 40 and 44, we then take Maitan and another highly ranked INT bat in July and suddenly we would have 4 top flight, blue chip bats in the system plus a plethora of arms and could justifiably say we have the best farm in both prospect strength AND depth. Swanson, Albies, lewis and Maitan are comparable to the Astros big 4 bats of a few years ago. You add in Newcomb, Soroka, Allard, Fried and the 2 prep arms we draft early and holy crap that's a farm system!

Blair could end up 9th and Toussaint 15th in such a system! Man alive that is some depth!

Also allows us to flip Touki, Blair, or Tyrell for bats if needed. Assuming of course their value increases.

Latest buzz is it may be a wild day for Jason Groome. #Braves trying to land him at 40 if they get Anderson at 3. Wow, would be a huge haul

It sounds like at least two teams have dropped off Lewis after recent workouts.
