Sucking sucks

Normally I would be watching nat or Mets' games hoping for a loss so we can gain some ground in the division. Now I'm down to watching our games hoping we improve and our farm develops some players. I miss being competitive

Get used to it. It's not going to change got quite sometime or until a new front office is in place.

Yesterday the suckage was apparent throughout the farm system with three shutout losses and a 0-5 record. No one can hold up under that kind of fail for long.

I know you won't change your view, but this is just so stupid

So stupid because you and nobody else believes it? I have been right much more about this team in recent years and it pains you guys. It's pretty basic ideology I have here. The Braves haven't even attempted to add any sort of help in the hitting department. Their efforts (lack of) are inexcusable yet you guys seem to think this plan is a good one. They have taken an approach to try and outsmart the rest of the baseball world by refusing to add major league type hitters. Their whole foundation is based upon trying to find a cheap gem who nobody knows about in order to pad their egos. You don't win in this business with having a ton of prospects in the minor league system and nothing at the big league level. There is zero balance with this organization and until they begin to even make some sort of effort to improve the big league roster, specifically the offense, nothing will get better.

That's actually how a ton of teams have won in this business... rebuilding and stock piling their farm systems. A few of the best teams in baseball right now...

Sometimes you receive a Melvin, sometimes you give one away. These things operate on cycles.

By now it is pretty clear you extent as many of your young players who come up and establish themselves as possible and stay away from premium free agents as much as is possible. There is no doubt that we would have had better teams and had a longer competitive window without the contracts we gave out to Lowe, Uggla, and Melvin. Now Uggla was not a free agent, but in many ways the contract was like a FA contract (extenting a guy in his 30s).

In some of his recent interviews, JC has emphasized maintaining financial flexibility as a high priority and I think he is on the right track there.

This demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of the state of the modern baseball business and how to win without wasting big money in free agency.

You seem to think it's fine we stockpiled young pitching and ignore the large amount of young hitting we have (Swanson, Albies, Riley, Maitan, Peterson, Ruiz, Meneses, Acuna, the other INTL signings) most of it is lower level, but that has value for avoiding having to dig into the SINGLE WORST COST EFFECTIVE WAY TO ACQUIRE TALENT which is free agency. FA is fine to fill gaps, but if you think that it's the way to go to build a team, you are wrong . It costs too much, most players are too old and about to decline and because so many good players are being extended young, the pickings are slimmer than they used to be.

The Braves are a mid-market team, if you will only accept a turn around on a rebuild of 1-2 years, perhaps you are too impatient to be a baseball fan. It's not like the NFL where one good draft class can impact your team in one season. In MLB it takes time, patience and a vision of the future. This is what the Astros and Cubs did, we are actually ahead of where they were after 18 months.

Besides, if this is so terrible for you, you would have never survived the teams of the late 70's and 80's, they found new and interesting ways to not only be awful, but to make the dumbest trades and signings you could think of.
