Who would make your all-time 25 man roster?

Slightly off topic, but have you ever wondered what kind of numbers Babe Ruth might have put up if they'd had the DH in his day?
 
No disrespect to the op or the post. However it is impossible to narrow the all-time greats to a list of 25. I think the fairest thing to do is do it by decade. Baseball has been around too long and had so many different eras and evolved to much to just narrow it down to 25. For my lifetime, baseball in the '90's was awesome, but I think it was at it's best in the '80s as far as being full of icons in my eyes. I am sure posters who were of age in the '50s and '60s will favor their decade. It's just an unfair question imo.

It was just a fun hypothetical post... think you're taking it a bit too seriously. If people want to answer the question, they are welcome to. Its called a forum.

Raises an interesting thought. Suppose a pitcher who really rakes today was in the AL....say MadBum. Why couldn't a team DH him on the days he doesn't pitch? (I could actually see this happening once or twice a year if a team's usual DH had bad splits or a short term injury, but i would never predict that it will happen on a regular basis. Too much emphasis on a starter's routine between starts. Wouldn't surprise me if MadBum or a similarly good hitting pitcher would want to do it, though.):cooter:

This is silly. You have no clue how Wagner, Hornsby, or any other legend would do in today's game. These guys were not just the premiere baseball players of their time, but also the premiere athletes of their time. If Lebron James was born 100 years ago, he likely wouldn't have been a basketball star. Baseball was by far the primary sport and the best athletes played baseball.

Not to mention we've seen what parks like Petco and Safeco do to the stats of even the best hitters, like Cano. But 100 years ago, huge parks were the norm, and these guys still raked.

Imagine if today's hitters had to play with inferior/reused equipment in scorching hot heat with no a/c to cool them down, or when it's spitting snow and there is no heat to keep them warm.
