Wilson Ramos was a severely below average hitter the last two years combined - gets an excuse.
Predictions have him slightly above average from this point on.
Not spending big on that guy. He's some BABIP luck from going closer to his 63 wRC+ last year.
He had a 93 wRC+ in 2014 with a .290 BABIP
He had a 63 wRC+ in 2015 with a .256 BABIP
He has a 148 wRC+ in 2016 with a .351 BABIP
Hes a career 101 wRC+ hitter. If you bring up his BABIP luck in 2016, you have to also consider his unluckiness in 2015. He's likely an above league average hitter. He's been above league average in 4 of his 6 seasons ( with one season at 93) and has a career average above league average.
FWIW, zips has him at .282/.325/.447 104 wRC+ for the remainder of this year.
Not in on Matt Moore. Not for that price. I don't want to loose Acuna for him.
I do think we swing a monster trade.
IMO Tehran gets dealt at the winter meetings. Some team who has a lower payroll will value his deal more than the sox or dodgers do. I think it's a 3 team deal where we can get some controllable major league or major league ready guys and the team that gets Tehran can use some farther away guys for a team like the Padres.
I think we're signing a FA catcher. I just hope it's s 2-3 yr deal. Even if the guy wants 4/60. I'd rather pay him 2/40 with a 5 mill buy out on a 10 mill extension plus a 1 mill buy out on the next year's 10 million extension. I think Coppy is going to go 4/60 for a catcher and it's going to suck.
Really I want to be young next year. Plug in some vets on short term deals. Don't be terrible. But I want the young guys to break in. I'd like Mallex, Inciarte, Swanson, Albies, Newcombe, Simms, Jenkins, and Blair to play. Being bad and old (like this year) really sucks.
Sign Carlos Gomez 1 year - I think he will take a 1 year deal to rebuild his stock.
Here's the thing...if the Braves are only going to spend a total of $50M this offseason on FAs, then keeping Teheran was a huge mistake. They either need to address all 4 positions of need (3B, LF, C and vet SP) this offseason, or they need to continue the rebuild and unload Teheran. They can't try to straddle both lanes and squander yet another valuable year of Teheran's control.
Trade for Matt Moore (though certainly not at the price clv offered).
I'm scared to death that Coppy is going to give Weiters 4/60+.
No way they trade Teheran if they plan to compete in 2017. If he is traded we can expect another 100 loss season.

A modest prosal: if the Braves have targeted their free agent needs and have the budget to chase them, perhaps they should look to acquire them before the waiver deadline of August 31 for valid prospects. What that would allow them to do is keep their second round pick if they re-sign them as a free agent.
This would depend, of course, on how deep they believe this draft to be and whether or not that pick would be a solid first-round equivalent. I thought I've read that next year could be a crazy deep draft. Did I read or remember wrong?
C- Ramos
1B- Freeman
2B- Albies
SS- Swanson
3B- Adonis
LF- Mallex
CF- Inciarte
RF- Cespedes
If the Braves go into 2017 with Adonis at 3B they failed miserably in the offseason. There are too many average or better players available at 3B not to upgrade the position.
Wilson Ramos is a guy you add to plug a hole, he's not somebody that will make much of an impact. I'd rather us go after impact elsewhere than bring him in.
