Olivera traded for Kemp

And finally:

John
10:53 Why is the kemp trade bad? Oliveras also dead weight, plus hes a garbage person. Dingers/marquee name for the fans, bad play to help get a better pick.

Jeff Sullivan
10:53 The Braves could've just rid themselves of Olivera by designating him for assignment
Didn't need to pay Matt Kemp thirty-two million dollars

They could have used that cash to sign a player who is actually good.

34 million over 3 years doesn't get you good players. It gets you players like Markakis.

That's most certainly false. Elite centerfielders do impact those in the corners. See Bourn and Prado and then Andruw with everybody else from that era.

Yes, I'm sure you know more about analysis than a guy who does it for a living for a site from which baseball teams routinely hire analysts.

Ever heard of Kiley McDaniel? The guy the Braves hired from the site in question?

LOL...I'm sorry. I got a big kick out of you telling someone that the person who does it for a living probably knows more than they do.

Right, and it also locks a lineup spot in at 1 WAR. One less position for a bad baseball team to add a good player. Why would a bad team spend money to add another bad player? They have plenty of those players already! Maybe they are trying to corner the market on terrible players and create a new market inefficiency?

They should have used that cash plus more cash to get a useful baseballer.

It was supposed to be ironic, sorry if it went over your head.

So I will explain...

Everyone on this board loves to talk about how the Braves FO are professionals and we aren't possibly smart enough to question them. Yet they question analysts that work for the very same site from which the Braves have hired at least one analyst.

Let me know if you need it explained in more simple terms. Perhaps I can post the definition of sarcasm and irony for you?

So why did OFers instantly become better defenders when they came to Atlanta? Also Kemp has better defensive numbers in 2016 than he did in 2015 as the CF play improved in San Diego.

You are such an angry little man. It is amusing sometimes though :)

Just ask somebody for a hug. Maybe it'll brighten your day some.

Exactly...anyone that thinks the Braves could have gotten a useful, offensive player as a FA with that money is diluting themselves big time.

Because now is not the time for the Braves to go out and sign a 25 million a year outfielder to help them win. That is later down the road when are on the verge of getting over the hump. And again you are ignoring the 8 million it takes off the books in 2020 which is a factor for when Albies and Swanson likely hit arbitration for the first time.

Typical response when someone has nothing intelligent to add.

Angry? Yes. Absoultely. This FO is bungling the roster of my favorite sports team.

Little? Maybe I need to post some gym pics haha.

That not really true. Daniel Murphy was signed for 3/37.5. Elite middle relievers get less. Andrew Miller was signed for less. Elite international FAs sign for less. Vet middle of the rotation starters get close. Granted there are many FAs that don't make it, but you have to have trust in yourself to be able to spend that money wisely.

Having an elite CF can most definitely help a weak LF as long as the RF is not also weak. Just look at it in football terms with safety help. If your coverage area has been cut down you have less ground to cover. That doesn't take a calculator to figure out.

That really doesn't apply because you are spending a hell of a lot to save that 8 mil in 2020. Why can't you just chop off 8 million over the next 3 years and put it towards 2020?

Gym pics? LMAO. You're killing me bro!

This isn't even close to a good comparison.

In terms of baseball, how many balls do center fielders get to that a corner outfielder should get to?

Very few. That's why the positions are spaced out around the damn field.

Just let them think Kemp will be fine in LF. It is pointless to argue.

That's not how corporations are run. There are no rollover minutes. I'm sure they have a small slush fund, but that money is tabbed the previous fiscal year. If we don't lose it it's a Christmas bonus for someone.

Bull****.

You're missing the point. If you have a linehugger on your team they get to more balls closer to the line and in front of them because they're area of coverage has decreased. This is basic little league stuff
