8/3 WEDNESDAY MINORS FINAL: Allard, Sims show 1st round stuff

Right now jace's ops (.755) at the MLB level is higher than swanson's (.747) at AA. Were we too quick to move Albies to 2b? Next year, our best MIF could've been Albies at SS and jace at 2b

Just because he's playing 2B doesn't mean he forgot how to play SS. He could always move back

I have always wanted Albies at SS to be honest.

It is only right that we replace an amazing SS from Curacao with an amazing SS from Curacao.

I've always been in the "don't sleep on Ozzie" camp, and I still think there's a reasonable (if small) chance he ends up at SS. I'm not worried about Swanson, but I think we should pump the brakes on comparing him to Larkin and Jeter.

Overall, though, our farm looks great right now. A couple of the position guys (notably Peterson) have stepped up, and the young(er) pitching looks as deep and talented as we've dared to hope. The only high-profile guy that I'm concerned about is Newcomb, and he, as noted upthread, has shown flashes.

And not walking a guy every inning. Common theme for all the major pitching prospects, and none of them have really made any progress.

On tv tonight, they talked about wisler. Said he was working on certain things in his start last night. Any chance we send our guys out on starts working on certain pitches in certain locations or something like that and it hurts their walk totals? Probably reaching

I think that they are always working on something, and they are always walking people. It doesn't matter what they are throwing and missing the zone with because they are going to have to be throwing those pitches for strikes at the MLB level anyways.

Swanson now hitting .255. Anyone worried? Maybe a little concerned? Our other 2 prospects there are hitting .341 (Albies) and .295 (Peterson). Both of those guys are younger than Swanson too.

I think some of it is just bad luck. His minor league peripherals compare favorably to Trae Turner. Difference being Turner has a high babip and Swanson's is relatively low.

It's like a broken record with the young pitchers. If he can harness his stuff he's gonna be good. If not he's not going to make it.

That's what we want. Some won't make it.

Better than Wrenn where we'd say they have great control/command but no stuff.

100% agree on the strategy. Ready to see it starts paying dividends and it should over the next few years.

Drafting all the pitching early certainly looks like the correct move at this point.
