I think the earlier gaffe--and I'm not making excuses here--was a misinterpretation of the rules. They were always going to spend right to their max. Had Anthony signed, there wouldn't have been money to go over slot on Shumpert.

Corbin Clouse in the 27th round and Jared James in the 34th make this potentially one of the greatest overall drafts EVER for the Braves. Based on early returns and potential, of course.
